2009 XP summit X 154 sway bar

yep. ditch it, they only are useful on the trail. Who rides on the trail anyways?

Unbolt the plastic links from the A-arms on each side, then unbolt the aluminum brackets from the sway bar on each side. Pop out the plug in the side pan and slide the sway bar out either side of sled, and remove bushings.
snap the plug back in and your done! very easy to remove.

Quick Disconnect

I road last year trying out Doo's quick disconnect kit for the sway bar. After diconnecting a few times never put them back on. Paid $86.00 for them. Sell for $50.00

Keep in mind that when you remove the sway bar that it makes the front end much softer. I removed the sway bar on my 2009 and the front of the sled actually dropped an inch or two even with the springs cranked past 4. If you remove the bar you need to upgrade your shocks in my opinion.

Never had that problem on my '08X, just cranked the springs up a couple of clicks and all was fine.

hey skank, is the 09 an everest or an x?

The 2009 is an x package. Trust me it makes it too soft. If you crank the springs up it helps but does not fix the problem. A lot of the dampening effect is lost because the spring over powers the shock and it creates a bouncy, crappy ride!

if taking out the sway bar affects your ride height on flat ground something isnt right. the only time the sway bar puts any spring tension on the a-arm is when one side of the front suspension is under load and the other side has less load.

Your right. THis is true on flat ground but the swaybar adds a fair amount of resistance on any type of angle or rocking side to side. On another note for those of you that asked about removal.... It is very simple and no cutting is involved. It would be very easy to re-instal if you dont like how it handles off. There are just two half inch holes to plug if you decide to leave it off.

I tried my '06 REV without the bar, and all I can say is NO THANKS!! If you like to drop off of cornices, rocks, etc. you will get a very spooky and unstable snowmobile if your landing isn't in virgin snow. Miss your line and drop a ski into a trench or blow hole, and hold on to your shorts:eek: Coming down the beat up mountain at Mach 3 is why the sway bar is there! Yes I know sway bars are for the trail, but they are very helpful on the descent. That's my .02:)

I have removed all sway bars from my sled as well as my 09 XP and it did not drop at all. If any of you remember the Powder Sp. did not come with sway bares when they came out.

Am I the only one that doesn't like riding a Bucking Bronco down the Widow Maker?! You guys are either braver than me, or drunk when you ride:D
