2009 T-XP air intake issue

The sled runs sweet when it can breathe. But yesterday in the deep snow I had problems with snow sticking and packing itself onto the MAG side vents and not allowing enough air into the intake. My intake is inside the right panel and just behind the chaincase cover.

I'm trying to think of ways to get more air into the intake without having to create a snorkle. I don't like snorkles. I think they get in the way and I don't care for the look. I have a full vented panel. Is there a better place to install another vent that is more protected from deep snow packing or would coating the vent screen with something help keep the snow from sticking to the vent screen.

i felt the same way you did last year, then this year had a few beers with a guy one night and decided to try his snorkel out the next day on mine, we swaped on the hill so i got to see first hand what difference it made, monday am i was ordering one

so far the location i have has not bothered me, and deep powder has not cause any bogs, bassically you can adjust 2 clickers less with cold air, and runn less octane, with less chance of detonation

once you have done it, you will not be turning back

PJ-you have the shock tower dump exhaust still correct? I changed mine that way this year and am now having some bog issues on the right side. Never had an issue being short of air even when the sled was submerged before. So I am going to change my exhaust-add another deflector and see how it does.

I use Pledge on my sleds and have for years to help shed the snow, quicker than wax on wax off. I run the TP snorkel by the windshield and it works great, but It would be great if someone built a kit that pulls air from both sides of the sled in the same location as the new etecs. I saw a youtube video on here where a guy had a cold air intake on the mag side in that location, but both sides would be better.

I'm still running headlight and the bulky part of the stock airbox that everything mounts to on my Turbo xp. Before I bought the snorkel kit I thought about trying to hook into that leftover airbox and pull air from both sides of the windshield kind of like the slp kit does from the left side. just a thought.

SWREV: No, I have tunnel dump.

My airbox is totally gutted and gone. I'll try the Pledge trick and add some more vents that I have into the Shock tower.

would like to see how the tunnel dump is done, seems hard to do to me on the ski doo's not much room

Tunnel dump

Do you mean instead of going out of the shock tower parallel to the sled, it dumps out the belly pan? Or it actually exits into the tunnel like a cat?

There is just barely enough room in front of the chaincase. If you look, right in front of the chaincase, there are three rivets that make a triangle. Thats the spot you are going for. It is tight but it works.

sorry... nothing up close. If you look at the area described and then inside the tunnel... the light will come on.

PJ..... I wonder if your problem was more you were getting hot air, and not getting blocked off. If yours is identical to the one I just installed, I dont know how it is possible to completely block the air. I could see a lack of air flow cause you to suck in a lot of hot air from under the hood though.

Never had an issue until the snow was super deep. Did way better once I got the snow knocked off.

Well. Found out a major part of what could have been wrong. My intake filter was totally saturated with oil. No wonder it couldn't breathe.

I did add a vent along the top of the panel but I need to get one for the panel front.

I installed my cold air into the side of my stock air box, hole sawed a 3 inch hole and put a bell mouth and piece of tube out , then a 90 down and and a 90 to the turbo, that was with the 2860, this year iwent to a comp, and a little more room so a 45 to turbo, I also tunnel dump it works good.
