I have a 09 m8 with 2000 stock miles. should I rebuild the top end first? what else should I check.

I would put a new top end on it, while your ripping stuff apart check your reeds, may as well replace them while your in there.
x2, check diamond drive bearings, gears, and seals. Check throttle, and power valve cables. Fresh reeds, extended reed stops, and pistons.
I just redid mine this year, here's what I was looking for
1.) Motor mounts - 2 of mine had torn durometers
2.) Pistons - Original pistons had 2200 miles on them
3.) Clutch - Check the bushing for wear, you might need a new clutch
4.) Reeds - Mine were still fine even after 2200 miles, probably due to the IC but put new ones in anyway
5.) Diamond Drive bearing if you haven't already done so
6.) Turbo ... I tore the whole turbo apart and cleaned it and repainted the expander housing
7.) Clean everything
8.) Clutch alignment .... I'd just use the offset bar to check parallelism, its right on spec doing it that way
9.) Track alignment
10.) Mix a quart of oil with your first full tank of gas.

Some good stuff to check here guys. do you guys use stock pistons on aftermarket? same with gaskets,orings ect? How hard is it to take apart the tubo?
