i have 09 m8 sno pro 162.
with about 500 miles on it. rode all day in powder king b.c. sled started and stoped all day even when we got back to the trucks.went to unloaded sled after 2.5 hr drive home.would'nt start pulled sled 3 times and a small back fire.
keep pullin and nothing would'nt start still 10 15 pulls and nothing. the guage lights up if i pull fast eneough but thats it.i have a teather switch installed and used it all day.it was about -8 celceus when we were ridin. home temp was -20 celcius. can anyone help me out.

has this happened to anyone else????

Pull the rubber tether and make sure there is no snow or ice in it. Make sure you get it seated correctly and spin it while pushing down.
Do you disconnect the tether at the post rather than taking the clip off your person? If so leave it connected to the sled at all times, and unclip it from your jacket.

i do take it off the sled everytime. no problem on my m7..
also i made sure it was seated on thier i tried it again this morning after it thawed out and still nothing.. very disipointed

Two simple things that can be over looked. One is the key in the on position? two is the kill switch to run? I know you probably checked this but I can't tell you how many times I watch my wife, kids and buddies pull the sled 20 or so times and almost get to the point of changing plugs just to find out the kill switch is off or key is in off position.
Kind of funny. My sled won't turn over unless I have the kill switch on or key on.
Next thing I would check is the plug wires and make sure they didn't come off for some reason, then plugs.
Safety switch working? Take to dealer and see if it threw some codes?
Good luck.

thanks for that info!!
after 2 or 3 pulls and no start i check the killswitch and teather.
and for the key well it never comes out of the run position.
i will also check plug wires and plugs after work
:beer;

Also check your throttle cable, as it might be too tight. Seen this happen with the adjustable riser.

The 09 M8 I was riding yesterday didn't want to start either. It would backfire just about everytime before starting. It had everyone looking over at me.

Then I remembered a post where someone said, "yes it has fuel injection but give it a little throttle as you pull", and sure enough i tried it and it fired off everytime thereafter.

Why it works? I have no idea.

left hand throttle???

three of the guys we ride with had the same issue after they put on there left hand throttle s (08 and 09 m1000s). don't know if you have one but if you do they are very tempermental, found the best way to mount is to put the bracket on top of the throttle lever because the sensor is more towards the top...

wont start

My o7 M8 started and died on me the other day pulled and pulled would kindof fire but no start, let it sit and it backfired. still wouldnt start so i pulled pipe off there was alot of gas in it so i checked the plugs they were really wet it was also getting good spark. I called my cat dealer and he told me that hes seen sometimes the injectors stick open draining the fuel into the cylinder, also he said sometimes the fuelpressure regulator will stik on them causing high fuel press. He told me to unplug my injector wire harness from the injectors and try starting it. So i did and sure enuff it started and the gas blow out my y-pipe alot of it, i reconected the wires after it died afew times and it is running good now. Team Hiline Brad

ok so i went home and thanks to the gentleman that said to hold the throtle open a bit presto it finally started..it took me about 8 10 pulls to get it to go but it runs again.. and nope i do not have aleft handed throtle. so does anyone have any ideas on why this happened?? i filled my sled up half way home could this have anything to do with my no start issue..
and the roads on the way home are verry rough!:):face-icon-small-con
