thanks for any and all input

The 1000 is an excellent sled.
I came off a 190HP triple with a 162x16x2.25 with $8000 in aftermarket parts.
Loved the way it would climb and work in the deep.

I went with an M8 162 SP and am very happy with the sled.
I guess I figured for a couple of grand (the difference in cost) I could add the HP to the 8. You would have to spend at least that much to make the 1000 as light as the 8 so it would just cost more in the end.

After putting a couple hundred miles on my 8 I may just leave it stock and ride it. The chassis works great and regardless of what the dyno says about HP the sled pulls real hard for a stock 800. I would say it is very comparable to a KK in stock form. The 1000 will be have a little more power.

If long climbs are your thing the 1000 is the way to go, you won't really notice the extra weight much since it starts out lighter than you stock KK. The chassis works very good and is easy to boondock.

1000

Go with the 1000 and don't look back.

I came of an 800 with twin pipes and my deciding factor was, "why would I want to get another 800 that I have to put aftermarket parts on". Why not just get the 1000 and leave it stock, mostly :)

I went from a KK to an 07 M8. I could not be happier, Looking at the 09 M8 myself. whichever you decide you will be happy with the M series depending on where you ride, how you ride will help decide what track.
I have the 162 on the 800 the wifey has 153 on the M6 I prefer the 162 for my weight and more HP. Buddy has M1000 and it is not as much fun to ride for me. He just bought an M8 as a "back-up" sled He says the 800 is easier to layover and carve in certain conditions. In other conditions the 1000 is the sled to own it just has gobs of power. You cannot go wrong either way.
You will be gled you did it.
