Was riding in bottomless Pow today, got her stuck, dug out and got ready to go and the throttle cable was stuck. Opened the hood and the oil cap, steering cap, oil level sending unit and throttle cable were all melted. I have side vents installed. Anyone else having this problem?? Seems to me the heat shield should be extended and the throttle cable should be sleeved the way the PV cables are.

if you ride the things hard in the deep you will melt. get yourself some heat tape and start taping anything near the pipe area. i used transmission line first on all my cables and then wrapped them with heat tape!!!

oh yeah i used the center of one of my many rolls of heat tape to cover the oil res. cap and a cap off a can of spray paint for the oil res. sending unit...

ya i have a 09 m1 and i twinned piped it. my throtle cable melted and than jammed on me, and cable has heat tape around it too. i was on a trail leading to the deep pow or pow i should say. i heard its a waranty issue with the stock ones itleast. free throtle cables...i went from a 08 rev to the kat.....im hoping there wont be to many issues with these........

I melted the oil reservoir, cap, and the sending unit on my 09. I was thinking about riveting on a piece of tin to the existing heat sheld to make it taller. Or trying to get some heat tape on/around it somehow.
