2009 M8 died today

Well my M8 died today, unloaded it from the truck and let it warm up for 10 min while I was getting dressed. Shut it off was having a BS session with the guys, went to start it and took off and it quit. No spark, lights would come on when pulling the cord, took it to the local dealer and found that a wire wore through and was rubbing on the exhaust heat shield. Thanks to the Cat Shack in Chetwynd BC I can ride again tomorrow. :face-icon-small-coo
 
Had to do a little re-bending of the exhaust shield on mine - It had wore the insulation off one of the wires and would blow the fuse by the CCU.

Moral of the story, everyone should go out and bend their y-pipe shield up a little bit and check the ECU harness wire clearance under the front of it.
 
I second that because it took us couple hrs to find the problem. I guess another bad spot is on the coils and your seat acually sit on top of the wires and will rub a hole in them also. We moved the wires around on this to
