2009 M1000SP 153 or 2010 M8SP 153

If cost was no issue and you could buy either sled new or almost new which would you prefer? New I would think they would be very close in price and a used 09 m10SP would be about $800 to $1200 less.

Has anyone ridden an 09M10 and a 09M8? I have a 2007 M1200 162 with an 08 SP skid and I added the 09 adjustable bars and it has a BDX rear bumper with lots of other mods and light weight parts so chassis wise it's very much like the new sleds.

I love the power but I bought a demo 09 M8SP 153 last Jan and I liked it way more than my big sled. It was so much more fun in deep snow. My mod sled is very close in weight to the 09 M8 so is it the 1000 motor or the 162 track length that makes it feel less nimble? I sold the M8 at at the end of the season because I had a buyer.

I like big power so would an 09 M1000 and a 2010 M8 both 153's be equally as fun to ride like the 09 M8 was!!?? Does the 1000 even have a lot more power than the new M8??

If I cut the 1200 down to a 153 would it feel like the 153 M8 I had??

I would like to keep either sled STOCK!! I already have a mod.

HELP me decide!

how many miles on the 09? interested in selling? in reality, i am in the same boat with you. do you buy a 2010 pay for the latest and greatest or, buy a left over 09 and save a few bux, and mod it to get to the power and weight savings of the 2010?

made a deal on a 2010 hcr now i am getting cold feet on the close to 12k out the door pricing. what doo you doo? ski

I rode an 09 M-1000 153 and a 2010 M-8 SP 153 back to back the same day. I'd take the 2010 M-8 any day.
Soooooooo much more nimble, and much quicker revving. Also way lighter in the front end.

I sold my 09 M8 last spring after finding out about the new 800 motor. There is only two real differences between an 09 and a 2010 M8. The motor and the seat. If you buy a left over 09, figure an extra $400 for a BOSS seat. The 2010 is turn key if you like the seat.

I'm comparing a 09 M10 and a 2010 M8 but it sounds like the M8 is the way to go but it will probably be almost $2k more after taxes.

Last year I went on a demo ride for the 2010 m8's and there were some people with 09 m1000's. Well long story short I snowchecked a 2010 m8 and go pick it up tomomorrow. You'lll love the m8 it has almost as much power and is lighter. plus if you already have a big mod you minus well get the m8. don't you think. just my 2 cents though. cheers:beer; let us know whatyou decide

Definately get the 2010 M8!

There are many reasons (lighter, at least as powerful stock, more nimble) the new 2010 M8 is causing the M1000 to be phased out. I bought a 09 M8 Sno Pro 153" after riding both the M8 and an 09 M1000 Sno Pro 162" back to back.

In hind sight I probably should have waited a couple more weeks and ordered a 2010 but, the deals on the 09s at the end of last season were too incredible to pass up.

I e-mailed my dealer today to see if I could still order a 2010 M8 SnoPro. Remember I'm in WI so they never order M's for stock. It turns out Cat is sold out of M8 SP's but oddly enough they still have a few HCR's so I put money down and hopefully they can get it ordered tomorrow before their all gone.

So It looks like I'm getting a new HCR!! I ride the "UP" so the harder track should be perfect for up there. My only concern is the wider ski stance.

Now I'll just have to change the clutching. Cat's low elevation clutching on the 09 was spot on I thought so I'll start with what is recommended on the 2010.

Thanks for your input guys!

I think you bought the perfect sled for your area!

The wider ski stance will be a benefit on the trails and not hurt much in the powder. The harder track will probably last longer and hook up harder on the trails too.

Congratulations - your sled found you!

any of you guys ever consider the 141 crossfire? Fun factor should be through the roof! Put a 2.25 powerclaw and it should climb pretty good. A guy at our dealer said when he had an 07 M8 141 he had 60mph + track speeds. Just making conversation.

I'd go 2010M8 for sure. more nimble and Resale will be better too.

Thanks

People are probably sick of looking at this thing by now. Pictures don't do the paint job justice. The quality is something you see at car shows and it has held up very well because I don't baby it in the woods. That hood was ORANGE! The hand guards and the heat shield by the steering post are painted to match.
