2009 HCR Holeshot

I have 2009 HCR with SLP single pipe,y-pipe and air box. It runs good but I still do not have the holeshot that the XP's or the RMK's have. I can pull them fairly quickly but I would like to pack the ski's right out of the hole. I am running the SLP set up with MTX weights with stock springs. Does anyone have any idea's about getting out of the hole quicker? Thanks

Buy an XP?:D

LOL....My 09' XP with an RK Tek head is faster outta the hole than the 160HP 2010 M8. I will absolutely let off early or at 50MPH if its a flat ground race tho'.:beer;

ski-doo clutching tends to be good out of the hole....you can set-up to get the hole shot by going steeper on the helix and lighter on the driven spring, but you wouldn't like what it does in the powder or hills....a 44-40 helix will help, making sure you're getting good weight transfer (soften the rear suspension)....just as you line up, reach over and hit his kill switch...:D

hey

My 09 hcr with slp pipe, bdx intake, and 48/36 helix is incredible off the line. I used to get a run at steep pulls, now i just pull and go. It goes like right now. Keep belt deflection spot on also.

Yup, that initial angle on the helix is what will make you jump out of the hole. I 48/36 should be a kick! AKTREEKILLER........... is that a progressive or multi angle helix? What altitude are you riding at with those helix angles?

I know SLP recommends a 42/26 with their pie alone and a 44/36 with their perforamnce edition kit but, they indicate through conversation that perhaps a bit more initial angle can be pulled initially. I'd like to try a 46/36. This is my opinion only but, I think if you are under 180-200 lbs and/or ride below 4,000 feet that you should be able to pull more initial helix angle. For drag racing a progressive angle helix is probably better and for mountain riding a stepped/multi angle/radiused whatever you want to call it.... is probably a better choice.
