2009 Dodge 1/2T

The first thing that turned me off was the fact that it doesn't have HID headlamps!!! 2009, and its not even an option.
I've had a 05 and an 07 ram 3500 and the headlamps are the worst on these, looks to be the same for 09.

hahaha. the lights on my '07 are AWESOME compared to what were on my '01. 3rd gen dodge lights are great. :) but yes, HIDs would be nice. :D

I can hardly see with mine. They come on bright but 20 seconds in, the grid heater turns on and they dim. I've got HID on my car and love them, and I'm going to end up converting my 07 over with one of the kits. 2009, it should be standard.

pretty nice trucks, went and drove one last week with most of the bells and whistles. rode really smooth and you can definitely feel the extra 40 or so horses in em. the only thing i didn't like was they took away the fold flat floor on them. I really liked having that for wet or dirty stuff. i don't really use my current truck for work anymore so i'm really seriously considering trading my 03 hemi quad for a new one but my 03 has 110k miles so its worth like 4 grand. almost just worth keeping it and driving till the wheels fall off.

I'm not a real big fan of HID's just because I hate driving against them. But for what it's worth the 1/2 ton the OP was talking about isn't gonna have a grid heater to dim the lights... I would also assume your grid heater doesn't kick on after the truck is warmed up? If it does you've got a problem...

the new interior...finally a step up for all dodge fans! Took a page outta fords book it appears.

Dodge wasnt a contender for my next truck, the old interior was holding me back, now......I think I'd still go witha Chevy.

Plan on keeping it awhile....because the resale within a couple years of Dodge's gas trucks is equivalent to a cheesburger extra value meal. And if Dodge DOES get bought/go banko and is severely downsized, it's gonna be real ugly.

Looks like a nice upgrade and finely a decent looking interior in a Dodge tho.

Not real sure where you're buying cheese burgers but NADA doesn't seem to agree with you. I hear a lot of people say dodges lose value but according to the banks and NADA it's not really true.

dude those are two years old. Find me a dodge thats ten or twelve years old and lets see how much....

It's not just the resale value by the book, but what people are actually getting for a Dodge. If you can buy a brand new Dodge Cummins for around $30K and you have to spend $40K + for a Chevy or a Ford, you know the resale isn't going to be that great. I think the interior of the Dodge has killed it in the past. That and the fact that they have a crappy 4 door and giagantic mega cab. They seem to be too small or too big in my book.

A year ago I was looking at trading in my 2004 1500 5.7 w/ the Laramie package. It had 85k miles and is in excellent shape. They offered $7k, less than half of the blue book price. Needless to say I'm still driving it and still very happy with the truck. I actually think our quad cab is the perfect size. I find all the other manufacturers make the rear seats way too big and the bed too small. Maybe Dodge joined them and changed in '09. I have not seen them in person yet. I'm intregued by the storage in the wheel wells.

Book don't mean $hit these days....I work on a car lot everyday and I'm going by what wholesale buyers will actually put into a truck, if they'll even buy it at all. They all get crucified these days, but the Dodges are the worst (diesel fares a little better, of course). And like I said, who knows what capacity Dodge will exist in a year from now....

All the American automakers are in the same situation...if anything, GM is the worst off. At the current rate GM is burning through cash, they would have to file for bankruptcy sometime next summer, and the other 2 would probably be right behind them. The gov. bailout is coming, it has to.

BTW, the new Ram won AJAC truck of the year in Canada beating out the new F-150 and was labeled the new benchmark of pickups.

I'm not doubting it's a decent rig; it has to be if Chryslers wants to make some chedda with it, because the other 1/2 tons are all really nice trucks these days. I just have way to many customers these days trying to trade off 40K+ 2007 pickups that are now worth 20 (or less) and they can't figure out why.

i looked at the 09 ram, seriously nice truck... if somethin doesn't drastically change between now and about 2012-14 model year i'll be buying a Ram to replace the 05 F150 i've got now... if I was in the market today the Ram would be in my drive already... interior splits the difference between the ford and chevy nicely, has MONDO motor and imho, the best 1/2 ton trans out there... its a very nice vehicle and ford and GM have their work cut out not losing any market share to it...
