I just acquired a 2009 dragon 800 with wiseco fix and boondocker turbo. no intercooler. ran ok first day out at elevation. suddenly it died. out of the blue. fired up and ran maybe 10 secs then again died. tried again then it ran fine. another time same thing. finnaly get home and after cleaning the engine bay out wont start. I had to clean it out due to previouse owner hauled it around with no cover. anyways I tried starting tonight and wont fire. not sure why kept dying at altitude. just out of the blue. its my first boosted sled so bear with me. also it has the boondocker controller

Voltage regulators are notorious for this and for whatever reason, early season failures are more prevalent

well we tried new VR. same thing. did notice that the VR was getting hot pretty quick though. This was at Polaris dealers shop. anyways suspect the stator is shorted somewhere. waiting on new stator. hope that's the case.

Did they test the stator or just order one hoping that's the issue? Is the sled running a tether? I'd pull all of the wire connectors apart and look for loose or corroded pins.
