2009 700 Blowing UP!

Hello all, I have a 2009 RMK 155" with issues.

I took out a piston at 400 miles, now the damn thing had a horrible bog, and I think I smoked it again. What's going on with this "suppose to be" bulletproof motor??

Injectors dirty, fuel filter, etc. Nothing is bullet proof, but the 700 is extremely reliable.

What has been done to the sled so we know what you are starting with (pipe, programmer, air box mods, etc)?

What have you done to the sled other then put new pistons in the engine.
For example
Since this vehicle experienced the same major failure twice within ??? miles, it was evident that the root cause was not determined. Instead of finding out why the pistons failed the first time, they were simply replaced. As this vehicle had only logged ??? miles in the year before its first failure, it was still running on its original tank of fuel that was 18 months old.
Bad intake boots, leaky crank seal, bad reeds, ect.......

I agree with the others, that you have some problem that needs to be found and corrected before throwing in another set of pistons.

I have an '09 700 RMK that I bought with 3900+ miles that was a rental sled. I put another 1K on it, then decided to mod it last year with SLP's 777 kit. It was running great before I did the BBK.
During the build up, I replace the intake boot/plate even though I couldn't see anything wrong with the original, changed the oil and fuel filters and so on. Cheap insurance IMO.

I had an 07 700. It had over 6500 miles on it when the water pump seal went. We caught it early. Pulled the motor and did a reseal and all new crank bearings. The top end still looked good. I was very surprised. It's been a great sled.

Do you want to sell it blown up? How much? Im in WI near Madison.

The sled is bone stock besides a silencer. I will check the filter, but I cant believe it would be dirty after 700 miles!?

Did you tear it down to see if you could find the root problem that is causing it to burn down? Could be as simple as just needing more fuel. Could also need oil, check your pump setting and look for kinks in the oil line.

You may also want to ask your dealer to run your VIN and see if you have the most current flash. I can't remember if '09 had two or four injectors. I had a midrange bobble (I'm assuming it was happening when the 4 injectors were going from top/bottom/top) that was better after a reflash. My PC5 really cleaned it up and is un-noticable now.

Something simple as a can may require tweaking fuel delivery. With virtually every CFI motor, fuel delivery is somewhat different and what works fine for the next guy might cause your motor motor to fail.
