List has been updated, thanx to the input from members cjgodden,Aksledder,Murdock,Pow.
To all 08 Riders and to BRP, this list is compiled from talking to different Doo Dealers, Sledders, Web Sites , Etc.
The info here MAY NOT be applicable on all 08 800s and may not be correct (verified) It is my intention to get the info out there. Customers can question their Dealers on the items listed and take it from there. One thing I do know for a fact is after talking to many different dealers there was no consistency on what was being checked. ie the Oil Resevoir is a good example. One Dealer said to me, "Resevoir had to be changed and that they had done over 1/2 a dozen already on this year 08s.
My dealer said he wasn't aware of any leaking tank issues, another said usually a "new cap " will fix the problem. Who's right????
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
1) NEW DRIVESHAFT INSTALLED I have heard that Skidoo is saying they are no longer responsible for anyone driving their sleds with the B.O Driveshafts. The trouble is, the waiting list is up to 3 months long for getting a new Driveshaft. Wouldn't be much fun having a track lock up at 60 mph on a bad turn or being helicoptered out of a big bowl with a jammed up track.
2) Bumper Bolts may need to be changed from the "Hex Head" style to "Round Head" some "Hex Head" Bolts have been catching on the track.
3)OIL RESEVOIR, if you have the threads that only go around 1/2way then you may have leaking problems. The only proper fix I know of is getting a new Oil Resevoir with the 360degree threads and a new cap installed.
4) ECM, needs to be remapped which will increase voltage to the Fuel Guage & Oil Guage Senders, both of which have been giving grief with erratic/inconsistent readings.
5) ALTIMETER may need to be changed out, some owners are saying that the elevation increments are being changed from 25ft to 200ft.
6) UPGRADED BELT along with Clutch Realignment.
7) NEW HANDWARMERS are required, the originals can fail.
8) NEW 19 TOOTH DRIVER may be required to ease the strain on the belt and provides better all around performance. Some owners are saying that the 19tooth is too low , my dealer says they are only changing the 144 tracks to the 19 tooth which I thought was odd. I would think the biggest track sleds would be candidates for the lower gear.
9) REAR SHOCK to be checked for proper pressure, min 300lbs
(Snow Check X Packages only with the upgraded Shock)
10)SECURE WIRING behind exhaust to prevent premature wear , Red Wire.
11) FUSE HOLDER BY THE AIR BOX may have weak springs or water corrosion which can result in loss of continuity to fuel gauge sender unit which will show improper fuel levels. Check Fuse Holder if your Gas Guage is not working right.
12) Check "Coolant Lines" behind the "Air Box" for any rubbing,it may be neccessary to turn the "T Fitting" so the small coolant line is not rubbing against the "Air Box"
13) Keep a good eye on your "Chain Case" check your tension BEFORE each ride.
14) Thats 'All Folks" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Get these items dealt with and your sled will be up to par with the new 09's.
Let it snow , Let it snow, Let it snowwwwwwwww. Where the heck is the snow? Warm start to the year here in B.C . I have heard some guys are sledding between Sicamous and Revelstoke , wonder how it was??
