2008 rmk 700 more power ideas??

I ride in the mountains usually 3-7000 ft. What is everybody's impression of the slp single pipe? Does 19-42 gearing sound right and is it worth changing the helix and which helix would work best?

This is my 3rd season on my 2008 D7. My engine is stock, I am using 19/42 gears, yellow exhaust springs, & a MBRP silencer. I have used bolt on mods on other (earlier) machines with noticeable gains. I do not believe their is a lot of HP left on the table with the D7 if your simply trying to bolt on some HP. I do think porting with a SLP set up and re flash seems to be a decent setup, I don't know if the gains are worth the $$$. I believe SLP advertises 12 HP.

I can say for sure, money well spent on my sled has been keeping the clutches tuned, new track , and suspension.

Thanks for the info. I have had pipes and reeds on a 2004 800 and 1997 700. It helped alot, but not sure on these CFI sleds. I have thought about porting too, but it costs alot.

I know others on this site may disagree, but I felt noticeable gains when I added an slp single setup. I ride mostly 7-9,500k, tight trees, some hillclimbing. The sled felt a bit more alive, throttle response was improved, and generally seemed like engine was pulling harder and more consistently. I can't back this up with track speed or dyno numbers, just real set of the pants feel. It seemed like the fuel mixture was leaned out a bit, and the sled could breathe easier. It isn't night and day, but definitely noticeable improvement when trying to tweak all the ponies out of the 700. After adding a carls clutch kit and y-pipe spacer to this, the gains were undeniable. I'm not 100% satisfied yet though, gonna maybe mess with valve springs and possibly a head to gain some sea level-esque compression back.

i ran slp single with a cut head with an attitude fuel box i didnt feel anything as far as a gain other than noise. biggest gain i had was switching to my twins and second would be switching tracks to a camo ex

call me crazy but i noticed my sled reved better and sounded more high pitched with the ves solenoid and ves valves plugged. Ive heard the best bang for your buck is a pc and tune. the stock pipe is very well tuned and the slp single does very little

It's hard to make big gains with an engine that already outperforms itself. Go through the old threads from back in 06/07 and 07/08 seasons and see what this engine was dynoing at and what guys did to "make it rip (Freak had a great thread, but I don't know if you can find threads from the old SW forums?).

Besides the 19/42 gearing and clutching I would also recommend "Air In & Air Out" by adding intake venting into the plenum and adding a good pipe and can.

go with a track if you ride moderate to deep snow and clutching, you will be amazed at the difference in switching tracks

definitely mixed reviews on the pipes. clutching sounds like a must. The pc sounds good, but how do you get programs to set it up. slp doesn't have a set up for the 700

DYNOTECH Jim has maps for the 700 for both STOCK and SLP single pipes.

He has a RICH and a LEAN map for the stock piped 700's, there's a 5% difference between the 2

I have carls clutch kit seem to be alright still loses rpms climping.Cut the track down and installed screws big differents thanks rob.Hps can sounds good lighter weight.Avid drivers helped also. Lots of venting by 2cool,this sled just rocks and I am a big guy just runs out of poop on long climbs so I installed Boss Noss 60 hp shot last year at the end of the season should help out my problem.I have looked long and hard at more ways to increase hp bottom line my 2 cent Boss Noss or a turbo. Hope this helps

stiffer spring or change your helix will help your loosing rpms problem

I take it you are talking about the secondary spring or the primary spring. What would I be looking for in a helix.

I see you changed your gearing, what is stock and what were the advantages of going to the 19/41 gearing? and did you need to change your chain.

Thanks,

Stock is 20/41, no need to change 74 pitch chain for 19/41. The gear change will help on the low end with a slight loss of top speed. It should also keep your clutches cooler.

awesome thanks, i was calculating the ratios and i think ill go drop the smaller to the 19 this year, possibly swap out the larger to a 42 later.

I have about 4-5000 miles on my sled, i was loosing rpm and we narrowed it down to the clutch springs are probably saggy from the clutch heat in the mountains, my primary i sent out to check over and its getting a new spring and im going to replace my driven with a new spring and add some delerin washers to it as well. Should i go with the stock driven spring or is there a better option? What about for the primary, stock or different?
