2008 RMK 600 - Help

I just picked up a 600 RMK 600 - 155" for my wife and I'm having a couple issues :
* We we're only a mile into a evening trail ride and the "Temp" starts flashing. We put down the scratchers and waited for it cool. The temp light continued even when we got into good snow. The only time it turned off was when it was going even a little down hill? Didn't even seem to be running hot? Common problem?

* It doesn't start very good (e-start). It will also spit and sputter when you give it some gas. I added fuel additive and now it just the first start is hard, and doesn't spit and sputter when giving it gas. I'm told the fuel filter needs to be changed??? I'm going to do the "ethanol" plug...is that my issue?

Thanks!

well the ethanol plug is only if your running ethanol fuel but this would not cause you to over heat, nor would the fuel filter. What were your operating temperatures?

ensure you have the right fuel plug for the fuel you are running and changing the fuel filter every season is highly recommended

I've only changed my filter once to solve a bogging issue and it ended up being my ves bellow. The heat thing is weird my rmk today with hard packed snow lake runs with no scratchers only got up to 131 degrees. With scratchers it sits between 123-125 degrees.

Not sure why its starting so poorly. And the ethanol plug is unplugged for ethanol fuel and plugged for 91 non ethanol fuel. Only effects wide open throttle not starting.

You can monitor the temperature in the display. Are you sure it wasn't the check engine light that was flashing instead of the temp?

try adjusting your mixture of antifreeze to water...i had an overheat light come on once on my edge. I drained some coolant out, then added water and it solved my issue. Sometimes people will mix in too much antifreeze in their cooling system and for some reason that will cause your engine to overheat.

You could also make sure no air in system, lift front high enough so running boards slopeup to front. I think they still have waterpump belt.

water pump belt? that does not exist, the water pump is gear driven from the crank. I have drained all of the coolant from my engine and tunnel and have never have had to tilt the sled to remove air bubbles only squeezed the coolant line with the lid open to burp the air out. I also suggest trying to replace the coolant its the cheapeast and easiest thing to do so start there
