2008 REverse?

In 08 was the reverse mechanical or electronic? If mechanical, can it be removed and any idea on weight saved. THX

although the reverse was controlled electrically, the solenoid actuated a mechanical linkage to change gears in the diamond drive to make it go in reverse....quite a few failures in the dd made them less dependable than desired...many people are replacing the dd with a lite-weight one for about six hundred bucks...no reverse, but no problems and they are lighter by several pounds

no reverse and no problems that I've heard. Mike from BDX is on the forum, shoot him a pm and I'm sure he can answer all your questions. His screen name is BD-Xtreme.

would just taking out the solinoid and capping the end of the DD case work?

You save 11 lbs with the BDX D/D lite or 7 to8 by removing the gears and acuator.

So its possible to remove the reverse and leave everything else fully function? Is this fixcing the the problems with breaking stuff
