I have a 08 M8 new out of crate this year 350 miles, and when motor is warm and i stop and shut off motor for a break it will back fire after shut off. Then still warm motor right after i start it let the gauge do its thing then take off and it will have a little bog till about 5000 RPM then runs great and wont do it until i shut it off again. just woundering if anybuddy else has this problem or just me, the backfire didnt start till last ride about 75 miles in 2-3 foot of powder and a little trail. The only thing not stock is side vents, motor has not been touched

My roomate and I both have 08 M8's as well, and the first time it backfired on me (multiple pulls in the steep and deep) it backfired scared the crap outta me. I wasn't sure what was going on when the roomy pulled up and his did the exact same thing. Not sure if they are suppose to do that but both of ours do and i have 2400 miles on mine no issues. As far as the bogging, neither one of us have that issue.

I had the backfire thing too. I started letting the machine idle 15-20 seconds after stopping but before shutting it down. Cannot remember a backfire again since then. Mine would also sometimes do it when starting too. Again letting it idle a bit seems to have stopped it.

backfire

I have yet to be around a cat 600, 700, or 800 laydown motor that DOES NOT backfire. That is totally normal. It can be pretty entertaining at the gas station when she really fires one out! Sounds like a rifle shot!

when you give it fuel then shut it down it just burned the extra fuel in the pipe, Mine did it to and like stated abopve I let it idle for a few second before I shut it down, and I also herd that bad plugs can cause backfiring, but with the low miles your sled has it should be fine
