2008 M8 and M1000 underdogs?

I've been reading several threads stating that the M8 is the most underpowered sled in the 800 class:confused: I thought the problem had been rectified for 08 with new clutching and a reflash, is this the case?? Also curious about the M1000 how is it holding up to the rest of the sleds this year?:beer;

For people who like to drag race in a meadow or blaze the trail, the M-8 sucks! For people who want to ride the most extreme, technical, tree filled slopes, it rocks! All of the new sleds are awesome and have their own strengths and weaknesses. To each their own, ride the one that is YOUR favorite.

Like colorado-matt said, if you want a powerhouse, the M8 is not the sled to purchase. On the other hand I've seen some real solid performing M1000's and several that struggle. With the right set-up I think most anybody would be happy with a M1000.

I absolutely LOVE my M8 Sno-Pro for MY riding style. It's nimble, and VERY easy to throw around, and you can hold a sidehill for miles. Of course, what works for me, may not work for everyone else.

Just from what Ive seen from the 2

Rode with an new m8 and 1000 a couple weeks ago, and both very nice sleds. We were in about 3ft of fluff. The M8 seemed considerably stronger than last years M8. It handled great in the powder and climbed very well. We liked the way it handled going through the trees and it stayed on top very nice. Comes over on its side with very little effort. No real problems.

The 1000 has amazing power. That thing gets u fast to the mountain and just keeps climbing. The bigger fellas really thought it felt more stable and handled better than the 8. The power was just amazing, grab throttle and hold on. In the snow we were riding, the 1000 is still a 1000. You definitely noticed the weight so it had more trouble staying on top, and trenched like hell starting off. The main problem we had was when u layed it on its right side, intake would suck snow, and there that pig would be. And when she gets stuck, she's stuck.

Over all, both great sleds. Really impressed with the 1000

with a few simple mods done to the 1000 i am far more happy on it than the 8 of last year. y pipe, can, k&n with prefilter and block off the front vents on the hood, hood screen in the middle and side vents, lightened up and had no issues with bogging or snow piling in, love it!!, just wish it wasnt a 153, it does trench

Wyoming T/A any idea if the M8 is putting out more trq then the Dragon? Sounds like the 1000 might be a little much for the 153"?

The M8 is more torquey and has a different power curve. If you look at SLP, they have some good mods. Pipe and head mods add HP quickly. However, it's too bad you have to do that to get out of the 700 class. I think AC will need some motor and chassis work for next year to stay competitive.

M8’s aren’t for everyone but they are a fun sled, great in side hilling and powder. They are a bit underpowered but seem to have good low end torque. Some of the things I dislike about them……..
Rough ride……
Rider forward position isn’t possible, for example if you are a tall person with long legs your knees will hit the monstrously huge gas cap or the hood, or pull cord. Why would they put a gas cap big enough to almost stick your head in. ? I have had three different riders try out my M8’s and all have hurt there knees in some way or another. But again some people love em. Each to there own. I don’t mean to criticize but I own three M8’s (153) and prefer to ride my Doo, maybe its just my preference.
