2008 M-1000 Track and overheating

Just bought a new m-1000 and wanted to shave a few pounds off and was wondering is anyone else has bored out their track and how many pounds they lost. Also it overheats way more frequently than some Ski-doo 800's that I ride with. Wondering if there are any vent kits that would help or if removing some heat shields would solve the problem

Where is it overheating, on the trail or when you are in the deep snow? Do you have scratchers? I know that my buddys M8 would overheat if we were on the trail to where we were going to ride and he put scratchers on and it went away.

Scratchers are very important on M sleds if you ever ride on hard packed roads. They will pay for themselves very quickly...

The XP and Dragon both have full tunnel heat exchangers while arctic cat saved 2-3 pounds and uses an 8" X 8" rear heat exchanger. I picked up an 2009 M1000 and first change was to replace the rear heat exchanger with the one out of the crossfire (8" x 18").

With our group the M1000 runs down the trail fine and the XP's over heats! They all have scratchers. The full tunnel coolers were almost dry, even with teh scratchers down.

X-2 found the same thing with our group. Takes a lot to overheat my m1000. Your water pump O.K.?
