2008 Dura

I am looking at a 08 loaded 4 door with 300.000 K on it 2nd owner he said it was mostly highway miles. 18.000.00
It has a few dents not mint.
Please tell me what you think deal or no deal.

I say no deal. I had an 08 and was trouble free but got rid of it 200000 sooner. That is too many miles for what they are asking. Let someone else have the problems. I guess I wouldn't buy any vehicle with 300,000 miles on it.

No deal. That's a lot of regens. Buddy got a 07.5 with 95k on it for 25k.

I like how people always say they are "highway miles". Does anyone ever say they are city miles?

That is a lot of regens, but a high mileage truck with DPF could always be deleted. I could see buying it at 200k but not 300k. Other stuff is very worn out.

At 300 K it may have some life left.
But it WILL be a money pit.

check the injector balance rates, take a good look over the mechanical parts, have it inspected at a dealership. 300k KILOMETERS is about 186k MILES, not terrible IMO. I bought an 07.5 with 150k miles for a little less. Had it inspected and also went over it myself with a fine tooth comb and its a great truck. It is also a little rough on the exterior but the motor and drivetrain are all in great shape. It has been stock its whole life and I just now put an exhaust and EFI live on it and its a night and day difference. 160k and it runs just like one with 100k, no biggee if its been decently maintained.

300,000 KMS's is quite a bit different than 300,000 miles guys....


Anyways, it's still a ton of miles for an 08.....it's worth something but it's not worth real money (i.e. almost 20 grand). He would get offered next to nothing at a dealership on trade....I'd guess 8-12K depending on what it needs and looks like. If you gotta have it, I wouldn't feel bad low balling him because there won't be any other 08's with 300K to compare with. Personally the number that hits me is 14-ish give or take, unless it needs some major stuff. Problem with miled-up diesels that are a bit rough around the edges is....they might be great, or you can spend thousands in the blink of an eye if they're not, so putting a value on one is damn near impossible. So all you can do is get it cheap enough that you're comfortable with spending a few bucks on it if need be.

Yep, I missed that. I was thinking he meant 300k miles (as in 300,000 miles).
