2008 dragon 700 skirt break

i have a 2008 dragon 700 and i have had two failures with in 800 miles ... the first was a pto side burn down from the throttle body intake boots leaking and the second im not sure why except for either the piston skirt broke or the cylinder skirt broke ... not sure what one went first but they were both broke.... im not sure if there is a fix for the problem or if anyone has had the same issues thanks

What's total miles 800?

I have 4500 miles no internal failures. Knock on woods.

Some were instant failures and some last a long time. I'm worried about dropping a skirt so I might do a top end refresh.

I have a 2007 700 Dragon and lost half of one skirt and all of the other on the exhaust side. Took a chunk out of the bottom of the cylinder and a chunk out of the case right were the lower injector is mounted. Also put a dime sized hole in the case. Only thing I can think of is I was too low on fuel while going WOT up a nice steep hill. 3000ish miles.

I feel ya......not excited about the $ cost for a case, jug, pistons/gaskets.....

Happen too me aswell, took down the magside, broken skirt or piston? It was oem pistons btw. Anyone who got this failure with aftermarket pistons?

And this was the second time the case was leaking in daylight because of skirt-failure... Put it back and my Magside rodbearing went :face-icon-small-sho

Change the rod-bearing if you have a case-smashing done.

I had it happen to me on a 685 cylinder side but I just attributed to thin walls from modification. I was able to have cylinder welded and repaired. Still going to this day.

oh great case did get destroyed ! now u got me worried about the rod bearing! i know the 800s are known for the skirt breaking but noone has come up with a fix or recall from polaris ijust dont get it ..... did polaris fix this problem on new sleds?

Hey guys,
I just had mine apart over the summer to do some porting and I was amazed how loose the pistons are in those engines, no wonder they sound like a diesel when they idle from all the skirt slap.
