2008-11-15 vp

http://home.comcast.net/~r0tax/2008_11_15_vp.htm

Bit of a late start, met up with Mule around 1030? 1045?

Road from the freeway lot wasn't too bad when we left, but there was lot of skier traffic driving up to the end of the 1.5 miles of plow.. If your using a truck bed or sled deck, i'd suggest going up as far as u can, there was even a suburban at the top lot/bathroom when we were heading in..

Snow was lot better than I expected, was able to play in a couple little meadows..but watch out.. Most the roads have great cover and definately worth it to 'get out' or a 'break in' ride.

Pics to come... After some food and relaxing.

Rotax would you be willing to give me directions from the springs? I got my mod sled finished today and really want to make sure I didnt build a grenade before my surgery on weds. I would be very grateful.

Take 25 north to 470, 470 west to I70, I70 west to exit 190. Go over the bridge, parking lot's on the right. lat="39.529851556" lon="-106.217328093". Probably about 2.5 hours.

Hit up the area thanks guys for the directions. I am sure I managed to look like a parking lot tool trying to load one of me sleds. Makes it interesting when you have a stuck throttle lol.

Anyway if anyone saw us we had the Mountain Cat and the Older green ZR.

If you do ride please be careful off trail. I watched a Rev do a front flip hitting a rock and end up with the shiny side down track side up. Last I checked not so good.

There were a ton of people and really some decent on trail riding perfect for a break in which is what I was doing on the green sled. Anyway thanks for sharing the area with me and I hope I didnt do anything too stupid in the parking lot lol I dont want to be known as a parking lot poser lol

Anyone been up in the last day or so? I would like to do a little trail riding possibly tomorrow. Also, I have only been to the parking lot right off the interstate, where is the other lot located?

thanks

Not really a "lot", but there were people parked up there.

My buddy JP is up there today riding. Says there is still enough for a road ride. Melting off though as we speak.

So with the colder temps tonight and tomorrow, hopefully I will be good leaving from the lower lot.

Anyone else been up today?

Thanks

I think we all are praying for snow . I don't even know if the forcasters even know what's gonna happen, but we need snow.

Rode VP today

Very thin, first day for fees (grr) but once up on top it was respectable as long as you stay on the road, or the packed down trails.

Very dangerous up there with the light coverage, but lots of fun nonetheless..

Did Lime Creek Road (down) and it was rocks everywhere on the bottom couple of miles.

It was dumping up high most of the time I was there so I bet tomorrow will be good, but we need a couple more (like 4-5) feet up there to make it any fun.

The bowl with all the climbs & cornices was just rocks.
