2008-09 nhl season

I know the subject will come up, it does every year. I figured i would start the topic and take the heat because "I AM A RED WINGS FAN"!!!!!!!! I know, I know.... Say what you will but tonight the cup is in Detroit where it belongs and yet another banner is hung in the rafters of the Joe! GO WINGS!

Wings suck! Move back to Detoit with your loser Lions.

:-)

Well if you knew anythign about the history of hockey... You would see just how wrong you really are! Some of the best players in the history of the game, 4 stanley cups in the last 11 years, a city that is dedicated to the team (regardless of how they play) and fans that know Hockey! Not to mention, one of the original teams to form the NHL.
I will always bleed RED and wear my wings jersey with pride!

MN Wild... Good choice. I played Junior Hockey with Brian Ralston when I was younger. I believe Brian is still playing for the Wild. The stories we have about the stanley cup when won it playing for New Jersey!!! The amazing and crazy things girls will do to get their hands (and more) on the cup!!! Wow!
Brian came back to Michigan and went around the lake on a pontoon boat with the cup. He made a stop at my buddies house and we all got a chance to drink out of the top. Those were the days!:beer;

Well, the almighty Red Wings lost to the hapless Maple Leafs, unfortunately the Avs lost too!

I was just busting your balls, what did you expect posting that in here?

Mile High, I know you were just giving me crap! Believe me, I get it a lot! I still love the Av's-Wings series, it's always a great game and generally comes down to the wire. Regardless who you root for, the NHL is F-ing great!

You have got to be kidding. :eek: Where to start..... The reason Detroit has 4 cups is because they BOUGHT them before the salary cap was in place, when there was only maybe 5 teams who had the financials to buy any player they wanted (Avs are included in this 5) Those are tarnished rings that were bought with pizza money! Much unlike the Oilers 5 rings which were earned. Look up 'Dynasty' in the dictionary and you will see all five Stanley Cup rings from the Oilers baby!

Second, sorry to tell you, but Detroit residents could care less about their 'beloved' wings. Even when they are winning. They didnt sell out most of their play-off games, let alone regular season! Most of the fans who were there were pissed off leafs fans because they didnt make playoffs.

Third - You cant self-proclaim your city 'Hockey-Town USA' What about Minneapolis?

Although i will agree with you on one point. Hockey is one of the greatest games !
:beer;

MN calls itself "The State of Hockey" More from it's involvement in youth and college hockey, than the pro team's. Since the North Stars left, many Minnesotans could care less about pro hockey anymore. I quit watching for many years and my bro the, "super fan", was crushed and still hasn't warmed up to the Wild.

But it just is not Hockey Town!!
