Just bought my 07 summit 800 151 and am looking to mount some sort of ski carrying devices to carry 2 pairs of skis. I dont want to chop the two rails that go along the top of the tunnel to mount a Cheeta factory racing rack. I have been told that to just bolt a carrying device straight to the tunnel will result in a bent tunnel. Anyone have any advice?
CFR(Cheetah Factory Racing) makes a pretty sweet rack but it is quite pricey. The materials are top notch and it's super quick to mount and unmount the skis or snowboards. No I don't work for them or have any affiliation.
i just put two snowboard straps on the back of the sled and a 10 foot strap over the seat. you put the front of the ski in the strap and lock the backs down in the snowboard straps. works well and cost about 10 bucks?
The Cheetah racks are awesome but for the cost of 2 snowboard ratchet straps and a night in the shop you can make an awesome rack. I made this one in about 2 hours out of 2 ratchet straps and about 10 feet of 1/2 inch steep tubing.
It bolts on my tunnel with 4 1/4 inch bolts and carries my skis just as well as my buddies who dropped 500 bucks (cdn) for a Cheetah Rack.
