2007 M8 problems

The last 2 rides have resulted in me being towed out. The first time was after 10 miles, the sled died like I hit the kill switch. Would not restart on the hill. It would restart in my garage. Second time the sled ran pretty bad above 500rpm. It would backfire quite a bit and start to die. My A/F guage would show a very lean condition when it would start to die. After 16.5 miles the sled died again. Again it would start in my garage. This time I ran the sled on a stand and was able to get it to die and not start. This is what I have checked while in a no start condition:
-fuel pressure was good
-stator checks all good(even installed different stator)
-throttle safety switch plugged and unplugged while running, no change
-a/f guage unplugged, no start
-I have powercommander, unplugged and no change
-unplugged hood harness (lights, etc), no change
-replaced 15amp fuse at CCU, no change

I have an ohm meter, how do I check the wire harness? Thanks in advance for any help.

If you are going to hammer me online, at least spell ARCTIC CAT right. Oh, and based on all of the hours spent on your sled in the past couple of months you still owe me big!!!!

i had a similiar problem but wasnt able to figure out why it died for a couple days. i looked through the wire harness and found no breaks. i took it out this past weekend and rode the piss out of it and it was flawless. I'm still not sure why mine died in the first place but im waiting for it to happen again and hoping i can get it to the dealership to have them try to figure it out. I read that another guy on here replaced his entire wire harness and it solved the problem after checking the stator and everything else he could think of. he thought it might be the main 32 pin connector to the ecu i think.

I've seen something very similar when the gas cap vent gets plugged or has water in it and it freezes when cold. If you can get it to die in your garage unscrew the cap and try it.

Testing the wire harness, I am fairly new at testing with an Ohm meter. I am going to take the harness to Fastrax as they are down the road from me to double check what I found. It is possible the the TPS wires have too much resistence. If that is my problem, I hope they can replace just those wires.

So..............looks like it was my ECU. New pick-up didn't solve it. New harness didnt solve it. Put a different ECU on it, bingo. No burn marks in the resin. No way to fix an ECU. Any ideas on what would cause it?
