i am buying a 2007 m8 162 and have heard that the clutching needs changed.
it is a stock sled, the only mod i want to put on it is a can.most of my riding consists of boondocking and a little hill climbing.any advise would be appreciated.:beer;:beer;:)

I would get a rkt secondary in there and change the weights accordingly to your riding style and elevation and you should be set. At minimum a shift assist and orange spring and you will be semi happy.

it is a bearin set that keeps your secondary spring from binding, thus creating a smoother and better shift. It is a REALLY cheap mod and easy to install. You match that with a nice spring and make sure your weights are right and your sled will be a whole new animal. With all this you will only have $50 in parts, time, and beer. The RKT secondary is the better more advanced fix and costs more but is more effective...its your call.

Give Cutlers a call. There aren't many people around that know more about it than he does. Dale will answer any questions you have.

The Y pipe on the 07 is very restricive compared to the 08. I just changed mine and bet it is the reason the 08 picked up some extra hp.

Also pull the DD out and do a full inspection. if you catch a problem early it will save you big $$.

thanks for all info.does the dd on the 07 have issues and if so what?to inspect the dd what is involved to open it up to check it

07 m8 clutch

If you stick with the stock exhaust, and don't want to spend a lot of money all you have to do is change the primary spring to a gold spring and throw in some 76 or 77 gram weights, leave the 36% helix in the sec. alone. Keep the RPM at 75-7700. The stock exhaust likes the rpm's lower than some of the other set up's like SLP

This is for 5 to 7k. Cutler gold/white primary, 75 g weights, orange secondary, 42/36p bdx helix, shift assist. I have just removed the two black spacer in the secondary to let it shift out just a little faster. 75-7600rs all day long. Replace the clutch weight pins. They break at the set screw. ($20)

Drill the lower hole out and drop the front arm on the rear suspension and make sure the rear arm is in the top hole. (Freebie)

Check your power valve cables at the servo for fraying.

Get it reflashed if it has not been. Make sure the CCU has the jumper plug. (both freebies)

If the dd is leaking buy the gasket kit to fix it. ($30 with oil)

Have fun!

Rob

What is the jumper plug at the CCU???

When you start you sled does the orange wrench in gauge flash three times? If so it already has it. With out it random crap quits working like the handwarmers, servo motor, reverse. I will try to post a pic later.
