I'm looking at buying a used 07 M1000 with 900 miles on it. He says that he has done lots of oil changes on the drive and always babied it into reverse and so far no problems. Do these all go eventually or will they last if your easy on them. Thanks

I have heard the '08's are a better design, but not positive about this. Someone else may be able to chime in here. I say just buy it and ride it till it breaks..............................or doesn't! I have an '08 one in swapmeet with 800 miles on it for sale also. Good luck.

They need maintenance, mine sucks in moisture through a seal. Instead of changing the seal last year, I flushed and changed the oil after every trip.

If I hadn't checked the oil, I would have been running contaminated oil.

have same 2007 with 600 miles. I have not had any problems so far and I have serviced it and not seen any contamination. I would also recommend performing regular services and keep an eye on the bearings.

As was already mentioned, if the routine maintenance is done, ride it and don't worry about it.

i bought an 07 m1000 in 2008, the drive blew up first ride it was warrentied , put a new one in road all season did fluid flush and change , got half way through that season blew up again so i bought another one and changed and did a flush and change after every 2nd ride i just took into the dealership cause theres fluid comming out the shaft that my secondary sits on and they tell my i blew it up again! not impressed with cat this is bull**** dont buy an 07 m1000!

2400 miles + and still going strong. Change my fluid twice a year. Run 55/65 gearing as well. Pulls like an ox.

Don't be afraid of buying an '07. It is silly to stay away from this sled due to the DD. It is not that complicated of a system. Just read up on it and see for yourself.

BTW........the '07 has the best map (ECU) IMO anyway. :D

Same here, 2500 mountain miles, no problems at all. I change and flush it once at the beginning of the season, again in late Jan/early Feb. I use reverse all the time too and beat on her pretty good.
Use common sense, don't throw it in reverse unless the track is locked up and dont hold it taped when landing.

well wtf i changed the oil after every 2nd ride only used reverse for baking off the sleddeck casue i was 2 **** scared that it would blow up and somehow i managed to bust the gear thats press fitted and welded to the shaft did that that twice and a bearing went and took out the rest of the **** another time! iv gone through 3 and none of you guys have had any problems ?
