Get an ITP Regulated return system and either a FASS system or and Airdog system. It will cost you some money up front, but will save you big coins in the long run. I work on these trucks day in and day out and know what you are up against. If you are having constant injector problems this will take care of it. Give me a call tommorrow if you want. Well atleast for you 2007 was the first year that you dont have a $100 deductible... my buddy's 6.0l stranded us yesterday at the base of mt baker on a chest deep blue sky day...

The 6.0 Litre Injectors are horrible, along with most of the other things in that engine. You must run really CLEAN low sulphur fuel or else you'll gum up the turbo and plug injectors

Its not the diesel fuel that kills them, the HEUI injector design was a piss poor design from the get-go. On bigger engines, they worked better, such as the 7.3, the injector in and of itself is much larger, in comparison to a 6.0 injector. Fuel injectors are lubricated by obviously the fuel flowing thru them, and also cooled at the same time. If your fuel pressure drops below 40 PSI on a powerstroke injector, it will literally eat itself. The plunger in the tip of the injector heats up and then somewhat melts itself to the tip body. This causes the injector to stick open, creating a rough running, hard start, a constant blue haze when cold, and leads to burning a hole in the top of the piston which gets into costly repairs. Another failure on these injectors is the spool valve, which is due to crummy oil, make sure you change your oil regularly! I have gotten in the habit of changing my oil every 5000 reguardless. I always run a synthetic oil, it is very important to keep good oil with a constant viscosity in your powerstroke HEUI injected engine. As for the turbo, the VGT design is a great idea, but International's design had some flaws. We offer upgraded turbos from stock to wild, which all incorporate a 360 degree thrust bearing rather than a 270 degree bearing which is what is stock, and tend to stick the vanes. Make sure you keep your EGR valve clean as well, and consider doing an EGR cooler delete, which will improve mileage, power, and get rid of any problems you may have had with your EGR cooler in the past and future. Hope this helps! Glad you got a new 6.4, your mileage may not be satisfactory for a while, til you get it broke in, and/or do a DPF delete kit. Call me if you have any questions! I'd be happy to answer any questions! :beer; ~Steel

7.3 was the best motor ford ever had! IMO My old 6.0 went through head gaskets, egr valves, Like they were free!! I finally bought a duramax. 55,000 miles and not one problem yet.. Knock on wood!! Later

#### Same here. I have a 06 with 20k on it. Never any problems. I keep the fuel filters changed, try to buy the best fuel possible, and change the oil every 5k. Is it time to trade before the problems start ?? Truck still looks new !! >>>>.

Besides a cam sensor go bad on my 04, I had around 80K trouble free miles. Recently, I found oil in the coolant. So I'm changing out the oil cooler, egr cooler, head studs and head gaskets for peace of mind. What caused the oil cooler to go bad? Who knows but I only flushed the coolant system once around 30K so all those casting particles floating around could have clogged the cooler. Or it may have just deteriorated.

I don't know much about the injectors but a rash of failures are happening on the east coast. FICM's are failing too. I read a few posts on fordtrucks.com that a combination of poor batteries with low voltage are frying the FICM. As a result peeps are loosing injectors too. Not sure if this true or a coincidence, just passing the word.

well im glad you guys are haveing better luck then I did started haveing probs at about 15000 changed oil every 5000 and kept fresh fuel filters in it just no go one turbo and 10 injecters in 50000 miles and it was a 2007. the 6.4 is good so far it was 17 below this morning and it fired up like it was 60 we will see how it pulls on sunday I will hook up my 29 ft trailer and go sledding and keep my foot in it will see if it can handle it .

I have close to 70,000 miles on mine. Still runs good! I use 1 once of 2 stroke oil for every gallon of diesel. Add a little lube to the fuel. Seams to help it out and quits it down.;) JMHO

#1. Make sure you are using factory filters.

#2.Treat your fuel.

#3. 15w-40 oil is great for summer time. For winter use 10w-30 (minimum) or a Synthetic 0w-30. Helps out a great deal. JMHO

well the 6.4 runs real strong it has realy impressed me. It pulls my 29 ft inclosed trailer with five mtn sleds like no other, and gets 9.3 miles to the gallon at 75 mph on interstate.
