2007 800r clutch questions O/T or T/A

I bought a brand new 07 800r 151 for cost. Anyway I love the sled but the dealer I got from set it up and would not do the updates. He said it has to have issue before doo will warranty the stuff. So I spent the week in cooke
started in clicker 4 ran her down the trail 8400 rpm so went 2 8100 rpm on the trail in the powder 7800rpm so up to clicker 4 8100rpm but when Id cross someones track you could see bouce to 7800 then back to 8100 but 8400 on the trail. So is secondary issues or what? Also my track speed in the powder was about 40mph also sled feels low geared like it would top out at 65 but never tried it. Also i saw that the primary only had marks 3/4 of the way up the sheeve sled probably didnt see over 50mph. Was very good on fuel and oil ran very crisp. Any thoughts?

clutch problem

It's the primary, it doesn't take long to frag those rollers and the old bushing.

And no, these are not the fastest sleds on the block.

The dealer should take care of this NO MATTER WHAT, this is not a new problem.

Read my thread on this exact subject (on this page somewhere), I am really happy with the update, too bad it took a year to get it but better late than never.

Good luck.

Answer to the rest of your question

Running in clicker 4,5,6 you will only get 3/4 of your primary, hence the low track speed.

If I knew how to make it run in clicker 1 or 2 I would tell you but I don't know how to do it, at least at 8-10K elevation.

These sleds are geared 21/45, I am thinking about going to a 19/45 setup in hopes of droping a clicker or two. That is my next move and I will post results when I do it.

Winterbrew does a lot of clutch experimenting, maybe ask him what he has for a setup.

Have your dealer do the clutch update! I just bought an 07 this year as well and just tell the dealer the rpm's vary and then they will fix it. The updates on my 07 seem to hold the rpm's at 82-8300 at 8000feet with no variation what so ever. As for gearing check with the wealth of knowledge in the 4m

find another dealer

If the dealer wouldn't/didn't do the updates, I would find another dealer to do the work! He should have gotten a clutch recall kit for every sled he received in 07. Get the work done on the clutch asap before it eats a $100 belt or two. Keep an eye on the boot on the ecu module as the exhaust heat will kill it in a couple of hundred miles. They must have received a bad batch from a sub as every one I have looked at is cracked. There is a recall for ecm sealing which i believe is for replacement boot. Mine is geared down, 19/47 (as I recall)which is about as low as you can go. It will top out at 73 mph in 6" of powder at 8100rpm running in clicker 2. Keep the secondary adjusted as per the manual- the cord even with the top of the secondary. I have a DJ clutch kit in mine, I can't recall the exact specs, but I really think that if the clutch would have been good from the factory, it wouldn't have needed it. Get the clutch recall done and put on a 19tooth top and see how it runs for you. Good Luck!

tell the dealer the clutch wont hold rpms ,tell him it will only run 7600 in the powder in clicker 5 and is viberating.:eek:that should doo it..with the updates you should be spot on,,you could gear to 19-45 but most didnt around here..rollers and bushings are junk in the clutch,,you've got to get it updated..

Get the updates, then put in a DJ clutch kit. My 07 is running excellent. holds 8300 all day long in deep powder. I also put in a 20 tooth top gear, and spacer for floating the secondary clutch. I'm running 14.7grams, a TEAM 16/380 primary spring, DJs helix. I rode on sunday in 3 feet of fresh on top of the 5-6 feeet we already had. It never faltered at all in the RPM department.

i work at a dealer and the updates should have been done before the sled went out.the 07 800r engine is supposed to run at 8400 rpm for max power.I would run 19/45 gearing in a 151 or 21/47 same result almost.

peak rpm

If you look at the tach there is a little notch where your powerband is making the most power. When u are in a hillclimb and its pinned check to see if it is on that mark and adjust your clickers from there.
