2007 800R advice needed.....GURU's?

I have a buddy with a 2007 Summit 800R that has 1400 miles. So far runs great, all stock except the can. Had Klots octane booster ran in every tank and synthetic Doo oil. Wondering about the thermostat.....should he install one or leave it alone.... where does he buy a thermostat and starter?
Second he needs a starter, (where to buy one cheap?) and the ring gear has a few teeth chipped. Is this going to throw the balance off on the clutch....should the ring gear be replaced or taken off? Anything else to do to this engine to make it last another 1500 miles?
Thanks guys appreciate the help!

Running octane booster on a stock sled just seems silly. Tell your buddy to not continue that little wallet breaker or get an RKT head and then it's justified and a power gain....even then you wouldn't need the booster unless you get a little higher then needed compression.

That sled has clutching issues, I'd talk to Winter Brew or Big John about that.

There's a few threads out there about the 07 thermo, I would try to find them, I think you'll find that he probably should get one.

Try Jaycoxmotorsports.com or Al's snowmobile.com for that starter.

First of all do not remove the ring gear. But deffinately replace it. Kelsey at RKT insists that they do not need a thermostate. I have 2 07's with a combined 5000+ miles with no stats and zero problems.

thanks for the info guys

I will let him know the information! We don't have premium fuel here and he said the dealer told him to avoid detonation problems run the additive? I'll tell him about the ring gear replacement.
Any other info?

Het SnowSnob, in Alaska you have to run octane boost because our gas sucks and you cant buy 91. So unless you want detonation it is not silly to run klotz octane boost.

I have a t-stat on my 07 and i get much more consistent runniong temps. I have a t-stat from an 06 in my SLP head. You can also get a t-stat from an 06 and put it in y0our stock head by milling it and then cutting the stock gasket to fit it and using some gasket material to get a seal.
