2007 600 RMK

I recently came across a 2007 600 RMK on craigslist. It look pretty nice considering it have over 3000 miles on it. I was just curious How many miles these sleds can take before something goes wrong? If something goes wrong how much would it cost to replace? Is there anyway to prevent this sort of thing from happening? How much would that cost?

I'm just full of questions.

Thanks,
Schmidty

So many questions but only one answer...It depends.

These sleds will go 8000 miles or more pretty trouble free. Cost depends on what broke. Regular maintenance and inspection helps longevity. Get a shop manual or a friend to help and it is minimal cost for most maintenance.

Again, that depends.

If you want them to clean the power valves, pull the clutches and clean and inspect them, check the steering, brakes, throttle cable, etc, grease and check everything over good I could see it taking them 4-5 hours at whatever their shop rate is. I could see it running $250-300 dollars without buying any replacement parts. But, if you aren't all that mechanical or have a place to do it, that might be pretty cheap insurance if the shop is reputable.

Find out what the wash looks like and do a compression test to see if both sides are the same. Doing a new top end on it is probably due (if it hasn't been done) and won't cost a lot if you don't have cylinder scoreing.

That is a great sled. If you can get it for the right money, another $1600 will get you a 660 kit from Carl's. You'll have a hard time finding bad posts on that setup. You can go that route if the 600 is "tired" but I think you need a core charge when you buy a 660 kit.

300 dollars for a servicing doesn't seem to bad. I've read a lot of reviews on this sled and it pretty reliable. The one im looking at has been in a shop since the guy bought it and serviced it regularly. Is 4300 a decent price on this if i can get it for that?

Not sure how many miles are on it, but sounds like a decent price to me. For the 660 kit, I believe you core your cylinders to Carl's and they supply you with bored cylinders, pistons and the works.

$4300 is about average for that sled. I paid $3000 last year for an 2008 rmk that was a rental sled its whole life had 8600 miles on motor but was maintained well. i should have bought all 4 sleds after i got mine home and looked it over. here is a list of prices for basic items if you decide to replace parts.
5 1/4" riser block - $55
nylon bushing in front A-Arms (qty16) - $70
tether cord - $52
handguards - $30
handguards mounting bracket - $30
rails anti stab tips - $55 each
Pivot ball joint at spindle - $55 each
piston top end kit per side - $175 per side

just a small list on some of the basic you should check over. i have about $1000 in replacing all the joints/bushings & metal sleeves in both the front & rear suspension parts. new steering bushings, ski parts.
IMO the sled is worth the cost and replacing parts is easy enough that you can do yourself plus you will learn a lot about the sled. here is a link to my sled build just so you can see how easy it is to replace yourself

hope this helps

Thanks cowboy, if I do get this sled I'm not going to be able to pour to much cash into it right away. Tried talking to the guy today but there was no answer. Hope it isn't sold :(

Ok, so i found this 2007 700 RMK Dragon and would like to know what is better. They both have a 155 track under them. I was thinking that the 700 was better for more power, but im not aware or the problems this sled has.

Does anyone know of any problems it may have? The 700 Dragon has 3800 miles and the 600 has 3000 miles.

The 700's were very reliable and awesome sleds. I put 3500 miles on one and wish I still had that sled. The 2007 700 was fuel injected and the 600 was carbed. If you are a tuner, the carbed sled won't matter, but the fuel injected sled will be less tempermental when starting and running. I would jump all over a 700 if I had the cash.

Saw those as well, both would be great buys. Went over 7k before the crank rod bearing went on my '07. I wouldn't worry about those 6's, love 'em.

The 600 is getting a new jack shaft. Just wondering if there is any mechanical reason these would go out? I think its just wear though. Heading up there on Saturday to check out the 700.

Buy the 700.
I've got both a 600 and a 700.As said above the 700 is fuel injected. It runs better at variable temps and elevation than the carbed 600's do.The 700 seems to get better fuel mileage than the 600 and it has 20 more HP.

Congratulations on the new sled. Keep us posted on your inspection and planned upgrades. I have the same sled, so if you want to check out any upgrades let me know.
