2007 550 fan flooding

We have a 550 Summit that when it sits it floods and starts very hard. When it does start gas pours out of the exhaust. I pulled the airbox off and there is raw gas sitting in the bottom of the intake ring on the inlet side of the carb. We pulled the carbs and checked the needle and seat and lowered the float setting thinking the floats were to high. Today after sitting overnight there is raw gas sitting in the carb inlets where the airbox would mount onto. We pulled the 1 way valve thinking the vent valve was stuck not letting the tank to vent therefore causing pressure and overcoming the needle and seat. 3 hours later there is raw gas sitting in the carb inlets again. What could be causing this? After a week of sitting it floods the engine bad.

The fuel pump is probably defective. Pull off the line at the carbs, it should not be flowing fuel unless the motor is turning. Seen a couple come through the shop with similar problem... make sure you get your floats back to spec

I own two 2006 Summit 550's. One machine acted the same as yours, my other machine is fine. Both run fine on the snow.

After talking to my dealer, he suggested I install a shut-off valve in the fuel hose where it leaves the tank, on the lower forward right corner. Used that now for 3 years and no more flooding.

Total cost: $12 valve & two small hose clamps.
