2006 summit rt 1000

It's not for everybody, but its a very powerful sled that handles very well.

Great motor that can stand up to a lot of abuse. (n2o, turbo, ect.)

i beg to differ on the second part, the SDI design is less than perfect but still makes great power

i just got an 05, which were the problem child, if your bigger and can throw it around, and are prepared to ride a tank around, then they have BALLS!!!

my Rev setup the way i liked it i could lay over in the shop relatively easy with nothing but adjusted suspension and no swaybar, my new RT, with 2 inch risers takes most of what i got to get it over, then again, i still need to set up the skid the way i like it, and im about 150lbs in street clothes, so i dont have much leverage. i have a set of drop brackets ready to install, those should make it handle a lot better for mountain riding.

as for power, with a BMP pipe mod and dynoport can, i cant keep the 162 stuck to the grass, it just spins, and when it hooks up, it lifts the skis across the field till about 45, which is the higher end of how mine is geared (60)

if your only a boondocker, rev 800 159, if you still wanna bea able to go out and lay down a sick mark, get the RT, the low end grunt is really nice as well, its hard to complain about how well it pulls down low.

yeah, the 05 was released a year to early, it cost way to much for the million updates to be done to it, then people got scared away, therefore nobody bought em = no more production. just like the 900 rmks, they have tons of problems, but the ones that have been around have all the updates, and people make them run good, it just took time to get em right.

Had a 2005 162" and a 2005 151". Liked the 151" way better. You wont be unhappy with it besides the weight, but at the same time there is alot of little stuff that you can take off to cut some pounds. i think we cut close to 50 lbs on ours, and spending under $1000 cdn. Yes they stopped making it for a reason. They got in to deep, and just couldn't bring it out of the hole. Sure they sold some but there was the fair share of problems with the 2005's. If you think you wont see another big block, think again, you know how skidoo works, and they wont let the competition take over. So if cat has there M1000, Ski-doo will step it up in years to come. Their chassis says alot, and not to many complain about the ride.

Had an 05rt, had a ton of updates done to it, then the exaust manifold colasped, cost me a month and a half down time, then it ran awsome, till about 1400miles and crank brg. went, $3000.00 for a new mt. but other than that I realy liked it. now I own a 07 800r 159x hope it does better.

I have seen a few of these that run really good, considered actually buying one recently but after looking around, seems they like to eat cranks? Is there a fix or cure for this?

like half the doo's just seemed to be a random thing, the one i bought has a new crate motor as well, went at about 1500 originally, but seems like the new motors got figured out, they

mine scares the crap out of me, it flat rips. gonna get me in good shape riding the thing all winter. im running the oil a little heavy on it to keep it nice and lubed up so it stays happy.

i also have a 151x2x16 laying around for my other sled and the drivers to put in in place of my 162 mav, may do that for the non epic deep days. we will see how it rides with the drop brackets on it this winter.

I have an '05 and like it, get some filters over the throttle bodies to keep the HUGE amount of belt dust from being sucked in and runnin thru the crank, as well I am told a Tstat (mountain sleds) should help with crank bearing issues and keep const temps for best power.
I'm just over 200lbs and can throw it around good, it is heavy so its a good work out.

when she's stuck itss a pita. but when the thing get going its a blast to ride. I just wish that I didn't have to put pipes, clutching, gearing and weight loss into it to get it to perform the way it does now. I have always felt that it should run like it does now out of the crate.

A friend of mine has one and I got a chance to ride it once.
I really liked the power but I have a problem with the way the clutches feel.
When you barely give it some throttle it lurches forward hard and when you let off the throttle it acts like you're hitting the brakes. Real touchy.

Is this a common problem and what's the fix?

I didn't get to ride it on any pulls or in the deep but what little I did ride it made me question the clutch set-up.

Exactly!! The reason I purchased one in 05 ($11,599 plus tax btw) was so I could ride a stock machine with the power I wanted without having to play the endless mod game and the wife game "you said if you bought this sled you wouldn't need to mod". And then after you sink way too much money and time in one, you give it away all set-up and dialed in!

As far as cranks go, you can get around that provided you know what you're doing.

Great sleds. I ride with a guy thats on an 05 RT and it runs strong. Yes the 05's had updates but thats over now. I'd buy one.

Theres no " replacement " for " dispacement " !!!
I love my HMK 1000X, my last 4 sleds were 200+ hp T-cats, so the HMK feels light to me, 162 track hooks hard, and handles well, I won't replace it until Doo comes out with another 1000 or larger sled !

Ya no kidding. What ever happened to the 1000 XP?

I am willing to bet that skidoo will offer a summit xr next year and the turbo kits will be flying off the shelves for it. 70 lbs lighter than a nytro with more power under boost. I think Im going 4 stroke.
