2006 RMK 900 Clutching Help

I have read many different post, but am not sure of what to go with. This will be the first time running this sled since I purchased it.

I have a stock 2006 RMK 900 with 159 track, stock pipe, 19/42 gearing, have the 66/44/.46 helix.

Just not too sure on the clutching. I will be riding from 1200-5000ft.

I see that a lot of people use the red/pink or red/black secondary spring.

What would you guys recommend for the primary weights and springs?

Any help would be great!

Also what is the max RPM that I would want to run this motor at...

are you running the stock pipe too..

SLp recommnds using

blue/pink primary spring

0-3000ft use the MTX 77g weights with 1g in the outter hole

3000-6000ft use the MTX 74g weights with 2g in inner hole and 2g in outter hole

and your target RPM is 7600-7800 rpms...

this is my first year on the 74g MTX weights...but i thnk they are gonna be great..i love being able to add the rivot weights w/o having extra weights laying around

hope this helps..

Another quick question, is it a red spring with a black stripe or the opposite?

I was going to install my helix and it already has the red with black stripe, is this the right one that lots of guys are using?

yes it is red with a black stripe. that is the 140/240 spring

use the red/black at LEAST...but i would also get a red/pink, black/white and try them out as well..

indydan said to use a 160/300..i think the color is black/gold??

but anyways..try those 3 out..the majority is using red/black....red/pink

I now have the helix, secondary springs and gearing.

What primary spring and weights could I use instead of the MTX?

Another option would be running the standard Polaris black/green primary spring and 10-74 weights ( 10-74s should be good for your altitude). The SLP blue/pink spring seems to be a really popular one that changes the engagement rpm slightly, but it is pretty close (within reason).

I'm running the Team black/purple which is a 160/240...also changed a few things with the clutching this year and will report back if it all works

Here's a link to the Team site secondary spring page if you're interested

do what 94 mentioned above...at LEAST as a starting point...and them adjust from there...

MTX weights are very handy...since you can add tons of weight and remove them w/o buying multiple sets of weights IMO...

GENERALLY..you do NOT want to add heavier weights...you would essentially change spring pressure (primary spring) to adjust your engagemnet rpm, and shift out...

and then AFTER your primary is set where you want it...then start on the secondary for backshifting and whatnot...

These posts have you on the right track for sure, I ran this exact set up in my 9 with excellent results. The only comment I have is that the target RPM if you are on the stock pipe is 7200-7400 and no more. The HP falls off very quickly above that and you will not get the performance you are looking for. If you have the SLP pipe, different story.

Not to jack the thread but has anyone used or herd how good the delta weights are? I like that you don't have to take the weight out or pinch the clutch to add weight.
