2006 M7 only pulling 7400 rpms - HELP

Last weekend my buddies M7 would only pull 7400 rpms on flat ground (trail). Did not get a chance to look into it, but am wondering what could be the causes. Will the sled pull this high of rpms without the powervalves opening? Could it just be a worn belt? Heading back up this weekend to see if we can find the issue. Could it just be a worn belt? The sled was pulling proper RPMS earlier this season all day long.
 
Clean the clutches and check the weights and both springs. Look for a broken primary spring.

Then throw a new belt on and adjust deflection.
 
What weights and what is recommended by AC? Any mods? If you remember, I was only pulling 7500 RPMs in the Snowies in April. I had the 6-9000 weights in.
 
Powervalves should definitly be open by then

I would check the Primary and Secondary springs (Make sure they did not break), your belt, your belt deflection and your secondary spring tension.

Any mods on the sled? I started to loose RPM when my D&D Y-pipe started to crack. The RPM loss was subtle at first

Sticky power vavles. Servo motor is working so there are no thrown codes, but the vavles themselves are prolly stuck down.
 
My buddies M7 was doing the same thing... We checked all the stated above and it still never rapped out as normal. Finally it was the spider. Check to see if the rollers are flat. If so, well it was $300 for a new primary.:( I hope your fix is cheaper:beer;

Cheapest and easiest thing to check. This happened to me already this year. Cleaned them and fixed my problem. The sled CAN pull 7400 without power valves opening, but you notice the sled falls on its face closer to 6800ish but still manage 7400.

Clean them before you go up, then diagnose from there...

Also even with bad rollers/weights in the primary I could still manage 7800 pretty easy when they flatspotted on me....just a thought...

Sled pulled 7900 rpms easy a few weeks ago with same clutch setup and no other changes to the sled. Clutches and sled only have 1000 miles, so I would not be apt to suspect clutch wear but who knows. I will verify proper valve operation, and check deflection weights, etc. We did check the powervalves only a few hundred miles ago and all was well.
 
Check the plastic rollers on the secondary to, they are pretty weak and have been known to develop flat spots.

If you need new ones BDX makes them, or PM Sledjunky as I ran his on my M7.
