2006 M6 EFI - Bad bog at hit of throttle - HELP!

This sled has only 150 miles on it.

Here is the problem: when it is warmed up and you are at an idle, if you hit the throttle hard it will almost shut off for a second (the motor sounds like it dies) before it takes off. The local AC dealer thought it might be the exhaust temp sensor but that didn't fix it. They are now waiting to talk to the AC techs at the factory to help them out...

Anyone have any ideas or have this problem before? The sled is bone stock and we are riding around 8k'.

Thanks!

I just had the same thing happen yesterday on my kids 06 M6 I just put a new pipe temp sensor on last week?

M6 Bog.........

Hey Guys
Most likely fuel pressure issues and excessive oil issues very common on 05/06 M6/M7. Install a fuel regulator and check your oil pump adj. Those first couple years of laydown motors were REALLY rich in fuel and oil both ! :beer;

if its overly rich or lean bog...here is a chart to check a few ideas

Problem: Too Rich
Condition Remedy
1. Diagnostic trouble code activated 1. Replace problem sensor
2. Fuel pressure too high 2. Replace regulator
3. Fuel return hose obstructed 3. Service — replace hose — remove obstruction
4. Injectors leaking 4. Replace injectors

Problem: Too Lean
Condition Remedy
1. Diagnostic trouble code activated 1. Replace problem sensor
2. Fuel pressure too low 2. Replace regulator/fuel pump
3. Vent hose obstructed 3. Remove obstruction
4. Fuel filter(s) obstructed 4. Replace fuel filter(s)

check your vent hose...as well the ecu hose for obstruction

where is the vent hose located because this just came on at the snowpark yesterday at 3000ft and last week I was running around the house at 800ft I just thought the ecu was not compensetting for alltitude because I had just let it warm up and unloaded it thanks for the info

What is the best way to tell if I have a rich or a lean bog? I just know that it happens from an idle...I think the dealer said he checked the fuel pressure and it was fine.

well dont know if your plugs would be an indicator so low in rpm...hmmm...try restricting your air intake,,,if the bog deminishes (your riching by restricting) then its lean bog...take hood tube off intake and partially plug

Does anyone know what the most likely fix is to my bog from idle? Should I just add a fuel pressure regulator? I hate to have to add $150 in parts to a machine I have hardly ridden, but I will add it if that is going to help - by the way, what is the best place to get one of these?
At this point I may get it back from the AC dealer as they have not been much help up to now - the other day, they wanted to sell me $1000 in performance parts (pipe, can, clutching, intake) to take advantage of the extra fuel (at this point he was assuming that was what was creating the bog - and he said he was sure this stuff would fix it...). I just want this sled to be reliable for my wife to ride - I shouldn't have to deal with problems like this with a brand new sled - I just wish we got the chance to ride it more the first two winters we had it cause now I believe it is out of warranty...

Just one other thing to note, this engine quitting for a second at the hit of the throttle will happen on the stand at the dealer - not just on the snow. It sounds like the engine dies for a second or two and then takes off. Hopefully this will help someone help me narrow in on the solution.

M6 Bog......................

First of all check your fuel pressure should not be over #43 if it is you need to put a Regulator on it. The other thing that will cause a hesitation like that is a loose throttle cable your cable needs to be tight NO PLAY in your lever.
Also check your oil pump adj. if its really rich on the oil pump it will dissperse the fuel and cause a bog.

Just got back from the dealer and they say that AC thinks it is the ECU! (around $1300) I asked him about the fuel pressure and he says he has never heard of fuel pressure being an issue at low RPM - he is going to check it this afternoon. He also said that too much oil would cause plug fouling and a lot of smoke. He pretty much just wrote that one off.
I have not been too impressed with this dealer's service on this problem - another day or two and if no progress I will just get it back and work on it myself for a while...

first thing I would do is disconect the throttle saftey switch it might be bad or lose. I've also seen injector wires that get lose or rubbed and ground out when the motor torques a little causing it to die or bog. When did the problem start.

OK, the dealer finally spent some time on it today - they came up with nothing wrong! He said he two phone conversations with AC trying to diagnose it.
Here are some of the things they checked-
Fuel pressure - within spec at idle, within spec at higher RPM, withing spec when the bog happens
TPS checked out ok
Disconnected throttle safety switches
AC thought it may be that I was running premium fuel and that would make it sluggish at the low end - however, I don't run premium fuel, it is more like 88 octane that is in there (85 octane is the next lower fuel here)

What do you think about trying a M7 ECU? (they don't have an M6 ECU to try) He is going to see about trying one tomorrow...

Otherwise I am getting it back tomorrow so we can at least ride it latter this week. I will pay attention to the oil consumption when we are riding it...

So we put on the M7 ECU and the problem is gone...He gave me the M7 ECU to try out and see what happens (if the bog is gone) out on the trails. It may run a little sluggish at all rpm's but I am interested to see if the bog is gone. I will try to switch in the M6 ECU to see if it comes back.
Any potential issues with trying this out?
