2006 700 rmk set up help

sorry but i cant find all the answers i am looking for.

am looking for a set up for a 2006 700 144 rmk. this is a sled a friend of mine purchased from someone that rides at 1000 to 3000 feet elavation. i know things need to be set up diffrently to work here at elavation from 5000 to 8000. am looking for everything from ex. valve spring to clutch springs and weights and gearing. any help would be great.

Look in my signature for my set up.
I ride primarily from 3000 to 6000, so clutching would be the major difference.
You also need to give some more info......
Mountain or flatland?
What are you running now for:
Clutching
Gearing
Etc
There are infinite "set ups" for these sleds, are you looking for specific set up for specific things.

riding is all mountain ridding. this is his first sled and his first year ridding. right now his set up is almond primary spring with 10-70 weights, 19-42 gearing, 64/36/25 (this seems like a strange helix, never heard of or seen a 25 initial length) with a black white secondary spring. slp can and fire n ice intake and all kinds of venting. his ridding weight all geared up would be pushing 3 bills.

and on another note how the heck do the ex. valves come out? i have owned several polaris sleds with ex. valves and these are diff. oh ya the springs in the valves are purple.

i rode this sled yesterday and could only pull about 7300 to a max of 7550 rpms. i know this is low but not sure where my target rpm for this sled should be. sled only has about 600 miles on it. if its like all the other polaris sleds i have owned i should be shootin for the 8100 to 8200 mark, just want to make sure on this because i have been told these are a diffrent beast.

dump that helix FIRST its not right...and causes alot of clutch heat and will not load the motor right

he sould be using a helix in the range of 64/44/46, you do not want to go lower then a 44, 46 angle in the middle AND end..

gearing is great, secondary spring is ok, but might be a little stiff for the 755...you can use the red/pink spring instead and be just right.

almond spring is fine. or try the black/green

10-70s are too much for 5000-8000 ft. i would get a set of 10-68s.....even 10-66s.

with the SLP pipe set AND ECU flash the sled is suppose to be using 10-68s from 6000-8000, so if he doesnt have the SLP pipe set then he wont be pulling more then 70s effectively.

purple exhaust valves springs are stock, they are fine to use. or you can use the SLP white springs...have him clean the valves, check for any holes in the bellows and then CAP the valves right after they come off the motor...leave the ex. valve solenoid plugged and you can remove the hoses if he wants.

the stock flash only has the engine spin upwards to 7500rpms... with the SLP ecu flash it will increase the rpm and ideal is 7600-7800....these motors do NOT like to rev higher then 7900 with ideal setups...

i would get an SLP pipe for the 06 700, i did it on my wifes 06 700 and it runs AWESOME and pulls very hard (the 06 700 SLP pipe/y-pipe is the SAME as the 06 900 pipe set FYI)

I'm running 62-44.46 w/ TEAM red/black spring with 19-42 gearing and it pulls like a freight train. I totally recommend this set up.
Don't forget to use 2 delrin washers

I'm running 10/72's for my elevation, my guess would be 10-68's would be optimum.

Highly recommend....noticeable difference at WOT

I have a stock pipe w/ HPS can with a stock flash and I pull 7850 max consistently, which is perfect

Guido knows his 7's & 9's...........good info for a first time 700 or 900 buyer wanting to get the most out of the sled.

first of all thanks for the help, secondly have any of you guys even seen or heard of the helix in question? (64/36/25) is it safe to assume this is not a stock helix?

so it also sounds like this sled really isnt all that far off in the rpms if i should only be seeing 7600 to 7900.

ill ask him if he wants to dump $100 on a helix but for sure i think some fresh springs and some lighter weights will do the trick for now.
