My buddy who is a 230 pounder rides an 08 WR. He gets around fine, he may not go straight up but he always get there. If you adjust your gearing and add a few goodies to the bike like using YZ timing and adding a pipe they work decent and they are reliable as all hell. You may not be setting the highmark but you will be out there having fun.

I love my 05 WR and couldn't be happier. As a year-round snowbike/dirtbike/dualsport, it's perfect for me. I don't care that it might weigh a little more and doesn't have a motocross transmission. It works great.

thank you M5, by gearing I'm assuming mh kit gearing. the bike I'm looking at has a recluse and under 500 miles plus a few other goodies. I like reliability.

I too am focused on a WR450 for the same reasons.

However, I also found a 07 Honda CRF450X with a street legal kit on it.

How would that work as a snowbike compared to a street legal WR450?

IMO the WR is the better bike, I've never personally known anybody that really loved the 450x, I've known a few guys who didn't but I'm sure they have their fans as well.

wr 450.......old and creaky

can't believe in changing bikes over in the spring when I snowbike on sat and ride the dirt on sunday.

so 2 years ago I purchased an orphan 03 wr450 fur 1500 dollars, a little rough with no miles, but hey most of it went in garbage anyway.

so 3rd year now of some WFO riding. 136" track, couldn't pull more than 3rd in 2' of freshfluff and no base on long sidehills this afternoon. Did change anti freeze last year and do put in 0-30 weight oil when I am inspired.

JD jetting:
blue needle 4th clip
45 pilot
172 main jet
great gas mileage

pulled up actual dyno runs on this motor compared to the YZ450, one wrong jet in the YZ and the wr will woop you, rode last year with 010 yz450, rider bigger difference than engine hoss powder. OK it ain't green. I've owned more KAWI than some dealers, would'nd trade a Yam motor for a Kaw unless at gun point.

Way toooo much fun in 2' of fresh today on the old tired beatup underpowed 10 year old dog of a blue bike.

16.3 inches track run out, limits road speed to about 65mph..........wild estimate.

no water in oil, no payments, no fear of gear dinging bling, starts easy, no bankers dream, making a big puddle in my warm shop right now.
