2005 rmk 900

i was looking at a 2005 rmk 900 at the loacal dealer runs awsome looks good slp pipe 166, they tell me this year didnt have the crank problems is this true?

thanks in advance for anyadvice

The 06 900 had less problems with the cranks snout breaking since the 06 crank doesn't have a groove in the crank its suppose to be less likely to snap. But some 06 900's break as well.

If your going to buy a 900 RMK find an 06.

Power Wagon,
Don't be afraid of the 900, they can and do work awesome if you aren't scared to work with them, plenty of help here on Snowest.
DO be afraid of that dealer, they clearly are either out to get you or haven't got a clue......
Kinda like going to the doctor that says "don't worry these smokes aren't the ones that give you cancer.
Sheesh, some dealers.

go check out the 900 section there is a wealth of information in there.

but as has been stated if your not affraid to work on a sled they can be a blast once the bugs are worked out. to me half the fun is working on it getting ready for the season.

is this a joke?

The 05 had more problems with cranks than the 06. We had two and both cranks snapped off at the clutch before 1800 miles. I would recomend you buy something else. You could spend thousands of dollar putting in a better crank and 06 pistons but you still wouldn't be able to sell it. These sleds are very high maintenance.

X2 man, save your self the headache and get an 800.

BIG +1.

I love the 900s, over 2k relatively trouble-free miles on my '06. But I wouldn't recommend the 05's unless you get a screaming deal on it and a lot of work has been put into it already.

Also would recommend against them if you're not very good mechanically.

Lots of good replies, they can be runners for sure if you get them dialed in. Here's a thread that might help you with the background of the 9s. http://www.snowest.com/forum/showthread.php?t=112723 There's also lots more good threads in the 900 forum. Just about everything you would ever need to know about the 900s has been discussed.

I would definitely be wary of that dealer tho if they have made a claim like that to you.
