2005 Polaris 900 RMK 151 Any Good?

I have a 1999 Polaris RMK 700 and love it.
[I ride mostly trails and like to hit the gnarly powder hills too.]

The wife is going to confiscate it from me because she loves it too! :D

So I'm on the prowl for a newer used sled.

Is the 2005 Polaris 900 RMK 151 any good?

What's good / bad about 'em?

Do their cranks break/grenade like the big-bore Polaris' are known to do?

Thanks :rolleyes: :beer; :beer; :beer;

You in Bend, Or? If so, it's what I ride. You are more than welcome to come take a look and we can shoot the sh*t about them.

pretty much everything you need to know/hear..

if your good with mechanics. like blowing $ and want to learn..its perfect..

also, like others have said.." once you buy a 900, you die with a 900"

also, notice on everyone that has chimmed in on this thread..HAS A 900..that should tell you something too.. ;)

A friend of mine has the '05 151 and I have an '04 159. Both have been very reliable. Only buy it if it's low mileage and been taken care of. It's worth the time to pull the clutch and measure the crank "run-out" before you buy. Walk away if over about .0025.

I have my clutch balanced each year and have 3,800 trouble free miles.....Runs good with a pipe, reeds, airbox mods and better shocks.

they only made the 900 in 05 and 06 model years. unless its some prototype

Yeh, i'd look for an '06. Many of the updates that would need to be done on an '05 have been addressed (although not to the level of satisfaction of some people here) on the 2006 machines.

I want to play poker with you! Sounds like you don't know when to fold. $30K? I would have folded about $22K ago!!

That would be a good sled if you could get it for around $3800 or so. Although if you want trouble-free, no worries riding.......get the M8! The power of the 900 set up right is literally arm-pulling, and they climb like a banshee and don't give up, but you are always wondering in the back of your mind what might happen when doing so. The M8 is pretty much bulletproof and a great all around mountain sled. Good luck with your decision.

You guys are scaring me!

I read some threads last night. 900 RMK gets mixed
reviews - you either love it - our you hate repairing it.
Plus, a lot of guys who DON'T OWN 'EM talking smack. :face-icon-small-dis

Here's the one I saw on Craig's List:

I think I'll get an Arctic Cat M8. :face-icon-small-hap

OMG, don't even think of an M8. SOme of them are experiecing track issues after only 2500 miles. I heard one guy who had an intermittent thumb warmer and his sled was still under warranty.

That POS is not much better than the 900.

See if you can find a 2001 800 RMK or a 2007 / 2008 Rev.

Uhh. Whatever.

I still wanna AC M8! A mean green one! :D

Although I do like the RMKs too.

Should I stay away from the 2001-2005 800 RMK's?

I've heard about cranks breaking, etc.

I like my 700 RMK - old school, but bullet-proof.

Chicks dig it too!
