2005 m7 egt hookup

My buddy has a 2005 m7 and we are wanting too hook up a Koso egt and we can't find 12 volts anywhere on the sled everything shows 5-6 volts ac on the meter we got the ac - dc converter but can't find a 12 volt source even has 5 volts ac at the taillight any help would be appreciated please text 4023403512

05 M7 only has AC power available to tap into EXCEPT the red wire at the fuel pump, this is 12VDC. I just tied my KOSO dual EGT gauge into this power source and haven't had a problem yet. You just don't want to pull a large amount of power from here.

You might want to find out why you only have 5 volts. IT should be 12 AC everywhere except the fuel pump circuit, it is 12 volts DC. If you only have 5 volts you have a problem, and with a fragile and expensive as cat electronics are I would be finding that problem pronto !!

To answer your question, there is a aux. power plug behind the triangle shaped piece of aluminum covering up the steering post under the hood. its just a 2 wire plug with a yellow (positive) and brown (negative) wire.

I didn't think the 05 M7 had this plug in?? And just to clarify, it carries an AC signal. I was on the KOSO website last week and apparently the new EGT's will run on either AC or DC power.

But Rixster is right, better figure out why you have only 5 volts on the circuit. I would check my DMM against a known 12V source (e.g. Battery)
