2005 900 166 track

What is the overall take on this sled? I don't know much about the polaris 900's. Do they have vibration issues or a ton of factory corrections? I'm looking at one for sale and would like to see what people think.

look back though the old stickies and the old thread. Lots of stuff to fix That Polaris did wrong.
Find out just what the history is on the sled too.
that will help with the group on here that will be great help to YOU.
I may end up with one my self just for the fact tha I know what to fix!!
LOTS OF UP KEEP IT IS NOT A SLED FOR THE PERSON THAT HAS NO MECHANICAL KNOWLEDGE

Like he said, check the stickies, there is more info in there than we can ever rattle off. From an owners perspective I like to call it a project sled, it IS going to take some work to make it anywhere near the vicinety of the word good. If you don't plan on changing anything and just want to ride a stock sled, RUN! If you are the type that can't look at your sled without dreaming of the next upgrade or preformance mod, it can be a good sled.

Bottom line they take work. They are not the type of sled you can just drive over to the sellers house and ride into the sunset and never look back. If you want the sled to last, you have to take certain preventative measures PERIOD.

X2... you are going to have to do the reading.. but the good news is that it is outlined well in the stickies and you will not have to do hours of searching... just hours of reading LOL

These guys summed it up pretty well, if you don't mind some wrenching and tinkering on your sled, you may be alright, if you want totally pull and go, you may want to look for an 07+ 700. Other than that, the stickies at the top of the main page can tell you more than we can, READ READ READ and good luck. The best thing you can do with any sled is to go into it fully informed, that's 10 fold true on these sleds.

That being said, I love mine:D

WHAT??? they take maint?? no one told me...good thing i have never put a dime in mine, and never added gas or oil either...lol...but it still runs ;)

Im glad someone told me they require maintenance. lol

lol, same here... I really haven't had to do much of anything to mine, I was just stating the usual 'your gonna be wrenching' mantra, LOL

As for running mods, all I have done in that department is the intake boots, venting, geared down, and normal clutch maintenance:D

I love these 'unreliable 900s' :D

Maintenence?.. we don't do no stinkin Maintenence! Guess we are the "lucky" ones. There are a few things that should be done and some musts but definetley get the history!
