2005 800HO Check Valve failure?

Has this happened to any of you guys? My PTO side of the crankcase is filled with fresh oil from the oil tank that leaked in over the summer. I had this happen to a buddy last year and he didn't know about it until his motor siezed up. Glad I caught it now I guess. Any info would be very helpful.
Thanks again everyone!

maby

i had an oil leak when i sold my 08 that was supposedly fixed a week before. they obviously didnt find the leak maby it was the same symptoms as yours?

sounds like the crank seal next to the water pump gear and oil pump gear ..seen it before on sea doo water craft.. only fix is to replace the crank seals

seals

with all the belt cords wrapping around that area i wouldnt rule that out for a second

the belt cords would cause a air leak not a oil leak,,the oil leak would have to come from the center of the case ,,,there is a cavity there for the oil pump and water pump gear that has oil in there for the bearings,,if the inner crank seal gives out that oil will fill up the inside of the case,,
I have seen both inner seals fail before.. if it is a very slow leak you can still run it ,,but keep an eye on your oil res...
I have also seen them leak over long periods of storage, but after put back into service the leak goes away until stored again ...only way to fix it is split the cases and have the seals replaced...

Check valves

The oil injection check valve failures were quite common on the rotyary valve engines. We had two crankcases fill up in one summer out of our 5 sleds! I have not heard of any problems with the reed engines. Definately worth pursuing before splitting the engine and having crank seals replaced.
