2003 RMK 800 won't start

So I just got this this 03 800 and it started and ran good when it was loaded. Unloaded it later and won't start. It was in the middle of the street and I sprayed a little starting fluid in the airbox to get it started and out of the the street. (I know starting fluid is bad on two strokes) Ran on that and tried starting it after, no go. It has 830 miles on it. What might be wrong? Stale gas? It should at least start on stale gas. Floats maybe?

That's very few miles for a 8 year old sled.
I would bet the carbs are goo'd up. Probably have plugged pilot jets. They are very small and old gas can do it. Just helped a friend the other day with the same issue. His pilots were plugged so bad that we had to use small tie wire to push the gunk out. Then soaked everything, cleaned, reassembled and the sled ran great after that.
Give that a try. And quit using the starting fluid if it won't run on it's own, no lubrication for the engine when it's running on that stuff. :face-icon-small-sho
Oh, and drain that tank dry and fill with good 92 gas (non E if you can find it).

Good luck!

Ok I might try cleaning those carbs up today. I only had to use starting fluid to get it out of the street after I unloaded it; I know it isn't good for the engine. It is right above E on the tank right now so there shouldn't be too much left to drain. I'll let ya know how it turns out today. Thanks!

So I cleaned the pilots, mains and the rest of the carbs up. I siphoned out the rest of the gas and put fresh 91 in it. Changed the plugs and also found it had the BR9ES plugs in it instead of the BPR9ES plugs. That could have made a difference too. Fired it up and drove it around and runs like a champ now. Thanks for the help!
