2003 800 verticle escape ?

I'm looking at buying this model, 3400 miles on the chasis but the seller states that he just did a top end rebuild (cylinders and pistons), has 300 miles, because one cylinder seized because of bad gas. From what I'm reading this might be a crank problem. What do you all think? Also, I currently ride a a Thundercat MC, the cat is heavy and 136" track, but I love the horses. Stick with the cat or try this Polaris, or ? Any other sled reccomendations?

I've got a stock '03 Vertical Escape. I like it. Only thing I have done to it is gearing, put a taller riser on, and added 2 flo rites. I haven't had any crank issues yet. Around 4000 miles, might be a little more now. I've read the same thing on cranks, but luckily so far so good for me. By no means is this sled a dragon or pro or M, but it gets me where I want to go. My body just hurts a little more than people with the new sleds. Just the track itself going form a 136 to a 159 will be a improvement over your kitty. Plus I would imagine it is lighter so hopefully a little nicer on you near the end of the day. If the money is right go for it.

Our family had a bad year with cranks on the old big blocks. 1st was my boy about christmas time with his 700. Snapped pto rod pin. The common break. Fixed it and made it the rest of the season just fine. Then I locked mine up the last week of April up on a glacier. Had to leave it there and bring in a motor to get it out of where it was. Too tough to try and pull it out. Went back the next day and snapped the crank in the wifes sled!!! 2 cranks in two days! Atleast hers was only about 10 miles back in and not over the top yet. Towed it back out. Weather came in and had to wait 11 days to get back in and get mine out. Mine did have a new high dollar bottomend put it it last year after I snapped one last year. I've got a new pro snowchecked for next year.
