My 2002 summit 800 w/6300km failed on the weekend (original bottom end). I tore it apart today and the PTO side piston is missing the lower portion of the skirt and there is a hole about 10cm by 10cm in the crank case. I haven't dealved any deeper yet, but does it sound like the crank bearing failed or the piston failed? Is the best option now to get a new motor or just try and find a new crank case ( the jugs and head are in perfect shape)?
