Merry Christmas everybody!
I am converting a 2002 RMK 700 from a 136 to 151. The 136" comes with the 21/41 (41/21=1.95 ratio) gearing and 74 pitch chain. The stock gearing set-up for this model with a 151" is 19/39 (39/19=2.05 ratio) with 72 pitch chain. My thought is to replace the 21 gear with the 20 gear to achieve the same ratio (41/20= 2.05 ratio). Can I do this? I do not know if the 74 pitch chain chain be tightened enough but I suspect it can to accomodated the 1 tooth smaller gear.
Reliability is more important than performance and I am willing to buy the gears and chain if required. The sled is otherwise stock.
I appreciate everyone's comments and/or suggestions.
