2001 summit 800 hard as hell to start

i have a 2001 summit highmark 800 im having a very hard time starting it....the last time i went snowmobiling i had to manually put gas in the cylinders to get it to fire up...as soon as the machine warms up it starts just fine....just the initial start is the problem....it definatley seems fuel related becuz soon as i add fuel to air box or cylinders i can get it to fire up......ive tried full choke 20 pulls half choke 20 pulls no choke twenty pulls....it seems to have no fuel from the get go....also the machine seems to run perfect once it finally starts and runs all day with no issues......any ideas where to start......any help would be appreciated thanx......

I would start with a compression check. Most of the 800's in 03-05 had bad rings. I was not a Doo guy before 2002 but they could have had bad rings back then. Low compression will make it start hard.

My 99 670 has a pump choke and one of the tubes for the primer slipped off, so it wasn't priming and would take between 15-40 pulls to start it... After a couple days I peeped around and noticed a hanging tube... Problem solved. To bad yers is lever choke...

Had then same problem with one a couple weeks ago. The throttle was stuck open 25% and then the choke won't work.

Xs 2 on the compression check. My 08 800r was doing the same thing. Turned out that I had lost 20 psi on the PTO and 60psi on the MAG side. There was a little evidence of seizure and the nicisil was flaking off. Thank God for warranty.

Mine was doing exactly the same thing, first of all make sure you have NO water in the gas. It freezes in the fuel pump. Also check your plug wires. These were 2 things that I found wrong with mine and now it runs fine.
