hi I just bought a 2001 srx 700 and would like to put a dcs system on it can I just switch the cdi box get the wiring harness and wire up a small led to let me know whats going on
any input would be appreciated

has anyone ever heard of an aftermarket DCS system
Detonation control system

Mr Buffet
I would like the DCS system for the times when the gas is questionable and I have it loaned out to a friend who may not be in tune with it as well as I am
Also I just purchased the 2001 srx with pto having no compression and the center having very low compression therefore after I rebuild it I dont want to have these issues again
I ask again
Does anyone know if this re-tro fit is possible and
To those people with DCS are you pleased with the system
Does it have some what you may think are erroneous blinks that jepordize your ride out

Wow are those oem pistons ever expensive
piston=140
rings=50
pist pin=16
cir clip=5
bearing=12
o-ring=20
cyl gsk=forgot
sales tax=15%
grand total=275 a hole

anyone know what the stock compression should be on a stock 2001 SRX @sea level @ WOT
Thanx

done some research and it looks like they are way cheaper in the usa so I think I will buy them there
Anyone recommend a good silencer or a set of pipes that would give me stock like reliability
The stock silencer is big and heavy
Thanx

Seems like kind of a testy response or maybe its just me.:beer;

listen rab, you pud, sorry you bought a sled with low comp., maybe do a comp. test on the next one. you have three options,
1 sell the sled and buy a 02
2 buy a complete wiring harness and put it in.
3 buy gauges that read exactlly what your sled is doing
If your sled is set up right you don't have to mess around with it at all. It must be all stock since you have the original exhaust so set it once and be done. Once its set just clean the carbs. once a year and be done. if your (friend) rides it tell him to sit on it and ride it, don't open the hood and it will be fine. use gas from a station that has a lot of traffic and you know it is should be safe and fresh, or buy your own. Again you don't need it. Since you live in Canada by a mbrp can. they are out of canada and sound the best(if they still make it). If seems you don't want the correct anwser so do what you want. also can needs no adj. set same as stock :D:beer;:D

come on now we dont need to revert to name calling

I dont think I ever implied that I didnt know what I wanted and I guess I cant really say anything because I did say in my original post any input would be appreciated.
I guess the comment WHY? and that I should know my sled good enough and shouldnt need DCS kind of rattled my cage

But I figgured if yamaha didnt know how to jet it through wide temp range well mabey just mabey the DCS would be a welcome improvement

As for the low compression I was well aware of that before the purchase hence the low purchase price its only a bit of a gamble on wether the piston/ring took out the cylinder in the process

I just remeber back when those things were new that they were fast but it seemed like they also liked the to eat an occasional piston

The gas supply here is not good at the best of times
there is only one choice and it is not premium its the next one one down that is another reason I would like some added insurance

Our elevation is sea level to 3000 feet but 99% of the time its sea level

You are are right Buffet if we had a choice of gas and it always seen premium there would be no reason for the DCS but I just got a ****ty gas situation

I may have to just go one larger on the mains and put a shim under the jet needle clip

You mentioned just the wiring harness this leads me to believe that the CDI is the same is this true ??

I would still need a Knock sensor and temp sensor and probally a different manifold for the temp sensor or drill and tap existing manifold and do the same to the head

Yes I was a little testy as Dragin implied
therefore;
I apologize and would like to start this over again as a person on the internet who has logged into a forum to exchange information/opinions and possibly attidudes on a sport that he holds with high regard
