2000 summit clutch alignment

I've got a 2000 Summit 700 that seems to be glazing belts and it's revving a lot higher than necesarry when just cruising. It's also engaging at 4300 plus rpm. If I pull the belt and sand the edges it will be good for a bit.

What may be causing this. I am by no means a clutching guru.
How can you tell if the clutches are in alignment?
Thanks.

How many miles? Could be worn bushings in the drive. Could be poor spring tension on the driven. Did you pull the drive and the driven apart and thourghly clean every part. Without a clutch alignment tool there is really no way to tell if they are right.

It's got 2500 kms. I haven't pulled anything apart yet. I've enever worked on clutching before. Time to learn I guess. Thanks.
